Fabulous to see our good friends, @jameshopkins84 and @kasia_p86 and their little one after all these years! For point of reference, they were among the last friends we saw before leaving for America 11 years ago.
And what better meeting point than sunny Cleethorpes - the place where I was born.

My early morning escapades in York took me down The Shambles - said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter films. It was weird to see it to empty when it normally is absolutely packed with tourists.

Worcester Cathedral, Worcester, England Have you heard about King John? He was also called John Lackland since his father had no land to offer him. King John also famously ‘gave’ his nobles the Magna Carta. This King John is laid to rest here.
The construction of the present day cathedral began in 1084 and took 5 years to complete.
In 1202, fire damaged some parts of the Cathedral.
By this time as well as in the Middle Ages, the Cathedral was of prime importance. Many a monarch came here.
When Henry VII’s son and heir died, he was buried here.
The Cathedral again suffered some damage when Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries. His daughter, Elizabeth I visited Worcester later. That’s some excitement for Tudor fans.
Even though Worcester Cathedral may not be as famous as Westminster Abbey with the royals, this cathedral continues to be a source of awe.
It’s gothic architecture and the details are stunning. From the fan vaulting to the front facade, it’s a spectacular specimen of Gothic architecture.
Have you been to Worcester Cathedral?

The Tailor of Gloucester House Such a beautiful, sweet little place. Exactly like in the book and the film. Teeny tiny and right by the cathedral. I love to travel so much, but more and more I am appreciating the beauty and magic that is right here in England. I feel so blessed to live in this wonderful country. So even when we can’t get away to discover other amazing countries, we can still uncover the most delightful spots...only a couple of hours drive away. Do you manage to appreciate what’s on your doorstep? And if you live/have been to the U.K. what’s your favourite hidden gem? ❤️
