The history of "Central Kids Store on Lubyanka" dates back to 1953. The main children's department store of the country was built on the site of the demolished Lubyansky passage designed by the architect Alexey Dushkin.
Dedicated to the international festival of youth and students the grand opening of the store was held on June 6, 1957. CDM became the largest children's shop in the USSR and the first commercial facility where escalators were installed. In the store you could find products for children of all ages.
In new time the shop managed to keep the unique shape, the atmosphere of magic and the fairy tale which were forever remembered by millions of Soviet children and their parents. In 2005 the building of "Central Kids Store on Lubyanka" has received the status of an object of cultural heritage of regional value.
"Hals-development" company started the reconstruction of "Central Kids Store". The works were based on the original drawings of the architect Alexey Dushkin who was the author of the project. Restoring of the facade ceramic facing, granite facing and bricklaying of walls, as well as recreating of aluminum stained-glass windows and oak windows took only 2 years, which became a real record.
On March 31, 2015 the renovated "Central Kids Store" opened its doors to visitors. The launch of the biggest clock "Raketa" took place in a festive atmosphere of CDM main atrium, which officially marked the shopping center opening. The grandiose clock mechanism weighing more than 5 tons was created by the the oldest Russian factory "Raketa" and became the "heart" of the renovated store.
On June 6, 2017, "Central Kids Shop on Lubyanka" celebrated its 60th anniversary. The largest children's shop has become an important milestone in the history of our country, a symbol of a happy and carefree childhood. A huge pool filled with balls and toys was built in the main atrium in honor of the holiday.
"Central Kids Store on Lubyanka" is a unique complex for family and children's leisure. #places_easypeasyrussian

July 8: the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity (Peter and Fevronia Day). On July 8, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, a holiday promoting traditional family values.
It is also known as The Day of Saint Peter and Saint Fevronia, who are the Orthodox patrons of marriage. Many people come to visit Murom on this day, the city where Saint Peter and Saint Fevronia reigned. A daisy is a symbol of the holiday, since it’s believed to be the flower of purity and fidelity.
June 12: Russia Day
Russia Day is the national holiday of the Russian Federation, celebrated on June 12. It has been celebrated every year since 1992. The First Congress of People's Deputies of the Russian Federation adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic on June 12, 1990.
Russia Day is one of Russia’s youngest holidays, having only been around since 1992. The day celebrates the establishing of Russia as an independent country after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, officially recognizing the day that the Declaration of the Sovereignty of the Russian Federation was signed. It also commemorates the creation of the post of the President of the Russian Federation (first taken by Boris Yeltsin), the national flag and the national anthem. Now it is used as an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of Russians worldwide as well as a general celebration of the Russian culture and identity.
Most major cities in Russia organize large public celebrations for Russia day. This includes concerts by famous musicians, kids’ activities, and fireworks at night.

Five minutes to your house... I thought everything had passed away
But it only seemed to me
And my pain is alive, more alive than me
Cruel fate brought me to places
Where I was happy with you back in the day
I thought I’d forgotten
Everything connected with you
And life like peaceful waters flowed
Why did I know you?
Why did I kiss you so tenderly?
What for is all this vanity and anxiety?
Five minutes to your house
I already don’t need anything
Only to look
Only to look
Into your eyes
I would simply call you
And would change fate forever
But there is no happiness in life
And there’s no love
Goodbye my love
You won’t meet me again
Just maybe sometimes will come into your dreams
Rains of tears will pass away
Leaves will fall down from gray hair
And frost on soul will remind about me
Five minutes to your house
I already don’t need anything
Only to look
Only to look
Into your eyes
I would simply call you
And would change fate forever
But there is no happiness in life
And there’s no love

Victory Day (May 9)
For Russians this is the day when the Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany ended in 1945. A day to remember the millions who died in the struggle, and to honor the veterans. The veterans (fewer every year) wear their uniforms and medals for the day, meeting the remaining “odnopolchane,” wartime friends, in the parks. Big military parades are held, and wreaths and flowers are put on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and to the Eternal flame. You can see symbols of this day all over Russia, on cars, on clothes: Ribbons of Saint George (black-orange lines), words on stickers - Спасибо Деду за Победу! (Thank Grandad for Victory)
- Мы помним! Мы гордимся! (We remember! We are proud!) And of course beautiful fireworks all over the country in the evening.
