One of my New Year’s sewing goals was to sew more black basics (because the goth heart wants what the goth heart wants), sooooooooo here’s my first make of 2019! It’s the @ready_to_sew #jpreadytosew boiler suit, in an Indian “Springtime Shirting” cotton from @joann_stores, and I love everything about it! There’s a stitched down pleat on the bust/back, SIX enormous pockets, a stand collar, a sew along, and, honestly, some pretty perfect sleeves. I took my time pattern matching on the pockets, and am THRILLED with the way they turned out, especially the inverted colors of the circle print on the front pants ones. I didn’t make many fit adjustments: - I cut a 38 and graded to a 40 hip - added length to the top and bottom - scooped out the front and back crotch curve (ha!) - the last pic is the seat curve, for reference I enjoyed making this pattern so much that I’ve already cut out a denim jacket hack (I know!!!), and bought a super yummy linen/rayon blend to try next (it’s called “potting soil” and I think I’m gonna look like a very haute UPS guy). All told, I went into this thinking it would just be my warm-up for the #lencoveralls (by my good buddy @sugardale!), but, now that I've finished this glorious bastard, I know I’m going to need to make at least 3 more.
