One of the weirdest things on Instagram is seeing an account with thousands of followers complaining of no sales. Like how did you grow your followers to that such huge numbers without building trust.

Likes do not mean sales, thousands of followers may not convert to sales - FOCUS instead on building a community of people that are genuinely interested in what you're offering.

There are accounts with low engagements that are selling out. There are accounts with just a handful of true customers that are selling out.
FOCUS on the important things and work hard on it. Most of you are attracting the wrong kinds of customers.

Heck, most of you do not even understand what form of marketing works for you. We could go on and break this entire table, but #NotToday.

The important message here is just, focus on the things that will attract your kinds of customers, do the hard work required, figure out what works and repeat it until you become a success story.

As online business people we've all had customers that slide into the DM to inquire about products only for them to go dead silent afterwards. Sometimes it can be the most annoying part of being an online vendor.

Now, before we dive into this, let's state it here that unless you did something uncouthly (being rude, unnecessary sarcasm, etc) during the enquiry, if they go silent afterwards it is not your fault. It's not you, it's them.
.
So, what to do.
.
1️⃣ Know the enquirer. There are people who just slide into your DM to ask about prices or even waste your time. It could even be your competition. It's wickedness sadly they don't care. The responsibility is on you to know which is which. The signs are usually there, be on the look out. If you sense that they are time wasters, do yourself some good and let them go (you could try reestablishing communication, but if that fails, let them go).

2️⃣ Follow up. As much as there are inconsiderate people out there, there are also people who get busy with life and just forget about stuff. The problem may even be money or convenience. Whichever it is, the best thing to do is to follow up smartly. Send them a message (or call if it went that far) and start a real conversation. Find out what happened, why they didn't commit, what their concerns or challenges are. Try to leave your questions open ended so they have room to actually talk to you. After such an attempt you'd be able to know if they are leads that can be warmed or left alone. If they are warm leads (genuinely interested) you could offer them discounts or even a payment plan. Every new customer acquired can become a repeat customer, so put in the effort to acquire them.

As with all strategies, there are exceptions. If you try this and it doesn't work, try something else. But try to check up on them and then judge from there.

With content, different formats resonate with different audiences, even if you are creating content for a particular niche, it's important you test different forms of content. Take note of the types that bring in the most engagement (you could use Instagram insights) and do more of those.

There is an alternate saying that reads, "Content is king, DISTRIBUTION is queen and the lady rules the house". It is still as valid as the original quote. As a business you could utilize the channels available to you to help distribute your content and drive the right kind of engagement.

Your employees are your greatest fans, and their social media presence could be leveraged to distribute your content. If you sell indirectly to customers, your partners could be useful in helping to distribute your content. Influencers and brand ambassadors can also be helpful; the right word from an influencer could drive a boat load of traffic your way. Your customers, those who have entrusted you with their money repeatedly can help distribute your content, whether it is in the form of leaving reviews or even reposting your content to their network, the results are always impressive.

Content may be king, but without his queen the king may just fall apart. Commit to creating content that is engaging.
