If you're frantic for a last minute side dish to bring to your Thanksgiving dinner, look no further than my favorite creamed corn! You can even make it in your Instant Pot if your stove is tied up with other things. ⠀
✅Here's what you'll need: (1) 24 oz bag frozen shoepeg corn, 8oz heavy cream, 8oz milk, 2 tbsp, melted butter, 2 Tbsp flour (or cornstarch), 1/4 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese.⠀
1️⃣Pour the frozen corn, milk, and cream into your Instant Pot. Choose the “Sauté” function, and bring the mixture to a boil.⠀
2️⃣Meanwhile, melt the butter in your microwave and then add the flour (or cornstarch if you want to make it gluten free). The flour and butter will form a thick slurry.⠀
3️⃣Add the flour and butter mixture to the Instant Pot, and season with salt and pepper. Stir and allow to thicken for a minute or two.⠀
4️⃣Then place the lid on the pot, and set to “Manual” for 1 minute. When the time is up, open the quick release valve and then remove the lid. Sprinkle parmesan over the top, and let sit for about 5 minutes to thicken a bit more. Serve, and enjoy!
Did you know that you can rise dough in the Instant Pot?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I recently shared the process in stories (now saved in highlights as IP Dough). The method is simple:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mix your bread/roll according to your recipe until it’s reached the first dough rising stage.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Put a piece of parchment paper in the Instant Pot and spray with nonstick spray. Do not put any water in Instant Pot.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Place dough on parchment paper and cover with the IP lid, glass lid or even a plate (thanks for the plate suggestion from one reader!). You don’t need to seal the knob because we aren’t pressure cooking this dough.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Push YOGURT button and set a separate timer for 1 hour. Or you can adjust the time down to 1 hour. I like a louder and more aggressive timer to remind me to check on the dough so I set a separate timer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Walk away and let rise for an hour. When you come back, if it’s doubled in size, then it’s ready for the next stage! If not, give it another 15 minutes and check again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, so many of you asked for the roll recipe and I was waiting for the approval of my friend to share since I was using her recipe. She said yes, so I’m going to write it up in a blog post for you guys! ❤️
Instant Pot storage cart. Isn’t this idea so awesome! Perfect for small kitchens too!
This is the genius idea and pic from my sweet friend Michelle @weekendcraft of how she made the most of her space in her kitchen with this IP storage cart!
I love how she even stores some of her favorite Instant Pot cookbooks on it too!
Head over to @weekendcraft to see where she got this and also check out her kitchen remodel she did on her own! She has a blog that shares all the info too.

Did you know you can actually set your Instant Pot to zero♀️ When you set the timer to "0" it tells the Instant Pot to stop cooking immediately after it comes to pressure. But now you're probably thinking, why is that something you'd even want to do? ♀️ And I'm so glad you asked! ⠀
It's a trick you might want to use when cooking delicate foods like fish and veggies. Those things are really easy to overcook in a pressure cooker. But this simple trick will make sure that never happens!♀️ Just make sure you also use a Quick Release to depressurize the pot.
One of the first things that most people make in their Instant Pot is hard boiled eggs! And it's no surprise. They turn our perfect every time, and are sooooo easy to peel. But I realized recently that I've never devoted a whole blog post to this IP basic.♀️ So I had to remedy that! ♀️ ⠀
In true OGT fashion, my team and I decided to experiment a bit with making eggs in the IP so we could give you the PERFECT instructions and times for making soft, medium and hard boiled eggs. We made A LOT of eggs one afternoon and finally got the method just right. ⠀
✅ You can swipe left on the photos above to grab the recipe card for all three types of IP eggs! Just take a quick screen shot and save it to your phone, or click on the little flag symbol under the photo to save it here on Instagram. That way you won't have to track down this post the next time you go make some delicious eggs! ⠀
✅I also included some handy photos of what we considered to be perfect soft, medium and hard boiled eggs so you can see exactly what you'll be getting when you follow our instructions. ⠀
Now tell me in the comments, have you been converted to Instant Pot eggs? ♀️ And if not, what can I do to convince you?
If you're making baked potatoes for Christmas dinner, save yourself some time and oven space by cooking them in your Instant Pot! I have yet to make potatoes any other way since getting my Instant Pot. ♀️ Here's how it's done:⠀
1️⃣Clean a few russet potatoes, then prick each of them with a fork a few times. ⠀
2️⃣Place the potatoes onto the metal rack inside your Instant Pot, and pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the pot. ⠀
3️⃣Select “Manual,” and cook on high pressure for 12-20 minutes. (Cook time will depend on the size of your potatoes. Use less time for red potatoes, and closer to 20 minutes for huge russets.)⠀
4️⃣ Use the Quick Release valve to depressurize the pot, then remove the potatoes and serve.⠀
Be sure to tag a friend in comments who might want to use this method today!
