Excuse me for being a little quiet on here at the minute...it’s school holidays and I naturally tend to slow things down a little..work in the morning while kids are in various tennis, art or GAA camps and then it’s generally walks for ice-cream or playing on the garden in the afternoon . I have lots of work I want to do, flowers and flavors to try, dummies waiting for new designs..but although hard when running your own business I think it is ok to go slow from time to time..it will get done eventually! One of my favorite things about wedding stationery is the ability to play with textures. I’ve always been an old soul, and it makes my heart flutter when I think about how the trends of wedding stationery have moved towards old world techniques. Handmade paper made by artisans, with its deckled edges and fibrous texture, letterpress as a printing method, wax seals with hand-poured wax, hand-dyed silk, handmade envelopes, calligraphy, even vintage stamps! I like to believe that people gravitate towards something that tells a story. Textures, as well as visual elements, can evoke emotion and tell the story of a couple’s wedding sometimes better than the words on the invitation. I will always have a place in my heart for smooth cardstock and digital printing- it definitely has its place and can make such a statement.
