Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, are rumoured to be in Ireland, and the news inspired us for today’s #TBT. Meghan’s former co-star, @iamsarahgrafferty, was our cover star for our July | August edition 2017, and we have decided to revisit that amazing cover shoot in Toronto as the actress discussed her Irish family, Suits and campaigning for women. “There’s a lot going on with the Rafferty side but my other grandparents were Flaherty and McAllister. It’s a lot of Irish going all the way back.” “The whole Irish hospitality thing is so real. I went around the corner to the pub...people kept saying: ‘Can I get you a drink?’ I was saying: ‘No, no I couldn’t possibly.’ And they were insisting: No I’m going to get you a drink.’ By the end of the night, I’m at my little table for one, and there’s like nine pints on it.” On her suits character, Donna: “I’ve learned a lot about confidence from her.” “It’s the best job I’ve ever had…This has been so fulfilling, because the crew is like family…It’s not like when I was bouncing around before, being a guest on another show - you can never fully relax. Here, its home.” When Sarah’s daughter asked her how was her day at work: “I said: ‘You know it was a really great day. We shot a scene where Donna had to be very brave and speak up for herself and ask for something that she needs and believes she has worked for’. She went: ‘Awesome. Girl Power.' “I work with Because I am a Girl campaign, which works to raise girls and women out of poverty in developing countries. I had the privilege of going to Ghana with them in March, so I could really see the work they’re doing.” “They're training a lot of people. I’ve seen some of the programmes that they had in place for 10 years and had an opportunity to talk to women about what they’ve seen change.” “Now the women have the opportunity to start businesses. They have banking systems in their villages that are female-run. They get to make their own money. It's always exciting revealing a new @irishcountrymag cover to the world but being in New Zealand I slept through the jitters and woke up to this beauty on my timeline with so many lovely messages from friends ❤ @glendagilson graciously welcomed our crew into her home to meet beautiful Bobby, just six weeks old at the time.
