Ah yes, the "Italian Stug", the Semovente DA 75/18! Designed in 1941 it was armed with the Obice da 75/18 modello 34, the exact same gun as the stationary Howitzer of the same name, and had great anti-tank abilities(this same howitzer was sold off to Portugal and Peru in the late 1930s). It had a lot going for it like it's low profile and 2 inches of Frontal Armor! compared to other Italian tanks that's over an inch more than the M14/41-m13/40 and way more than the L3/33(.47 inches of frontal armor). Now, let me stress this, it wasn't actually meant to be a tank destroyer when it was first designed(similar to the stug) it just happened to be more than capable of knocking out other tanks of the time. Sadly these little machines had some serious strikes against them.  The SPA 15 T M41 V8 diesel engine wasn't really that reliable or fast, a horribly cramped interior, still relatively weak armor, and the biggest nail in the coffin? Ammo capacity. The Semovente could at most, carry around 50 shells. Most Semoventes carried 30-45. This meant that supply vehicles always had to be in a reachable distance, and all of you can see the recipe for chaos right there alone. Sadly the DA 75/18 didn't get the service record the  L3/33 did(which I want to draw again). Most of them fought in North Africa, and a few in Sicily (depicted here) Only 262 were built, but there were 100s more of upgraded versions like the Da 75/34 and DA 105/25, but these like the P26/40 came in too late to be used much by the Italian Army itself making it the classic case of too little too late. The Germans would be the ones to carry out their use and production after 1943. So overall ,I'll rate the Semovente DA 75/18 a 7/10, and one of the best Italian AFVs of the war.
