The whole construction is made for the warehouse. The space within the beat begs to bounce off concrete walls and echo around the room -- it’s filled with movement rather than sound. The chorus, “Hit em with the hardcore bass on the floor,” echoes like Detroit house, being chopped, clipped, and barked. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ LA based producer, Dateless, seems rooted to returning his listeners to the rave. Releasing tracks on labels including Jamie Jones’ HOTTRAX, Dirtybird, Snatch!, Food Music & Toolroom, his idiosyncratic grooves feel as though they have an unbalanced wobble that create the effect of catching and keeping your ear. Despite the song’s lean into the loop, you instinctively wait to catch the next drop, as if wondering if it is the floor, your eyes, or the world around you that continues to shift.
