Resin day! This is the teacher appreciation gift for my daughter’s kindergarten teacher. I had each of her classmates make a watercolor painting and I took two-2 inch circles from each painting. I mounted them on a painted wood board and coated with resin.
I love that each student had a hand in making this. They will also get to sign the back. I hope her teacher loves it ❤️ as much as I do.

Friends for a lifetime.
“People come into your life for a reason, season, or a lifetime.” I often think about this quotation.
Once, I talked about this quote with my friend, Kym, and she said, “Jenny, you are a friend for a lifetime.”
Friends for a reason and season fill my days with such gratitude. But friends for a lifetime fill my soul with bliss.
❤️
This piece took me 16 minutes. This piece is part of my challenge to create a painting in 30 minutes or less.
This painting is the 5th of 6 paintings in which I challenge myself to use each of the Nova and Stewart Gill paints that Kym gave me.
As promised...more 1st grade chalk pastel flowers. For a great video tutorial, check out the lesson at @deepspacesparkle . Great insights arose during this painting. Let me explain:
This painting is part of my challenge to use each of my Golden Fluid Acrylics which is part of a bigger challenge to use each of my paints. As I use each paint, I can create a paint reference sheet & identify which paints I love, like, & will give away.
This is part of a project to evaluate everything in my art room & home & decide what I love & will keep & what I will give away. Ian & I started this project after we listened to Marie Kondo’s Magic Art of Tidying Up book.
I rarely use Golden Fluid Acrylic paints? Why? Because they’re expensive & seem too precious. I bought them a decade ago because I felt this: If you want to be an artist, you should own & use Golden paints.
But because those 1 oz bottles are pricey, I wouldn’t use my Golden paints. Instead, I used paint $2 bottles of paint like Martha Stewart craft paints. Then this became my new opinion about the Golden paints: When I feel like I’m making real art, then I’ll use my Golden paints.
Because of my Marie Kondo purging project, I started to use each of my Golden Fluid Acrylics.
But this is what I realized: I don’t like the Golden colors I own. If I had to list my top 20 favorite paint colors, none of those colors would be Golden paint colors. Many people can create magical art from Golden paints, but, I can’t. Part of this is because I use paint straight from the bottle. I don’t mix my paints.
During this painting, I had to face my expectations of what a “real artist is” & “what real art is.”
I know I’m an artist, but I don’t like to think of myself as a “real artist.” It’s all semantics but these are ways to “trick” my brain so I have less inner critics & can create lots of uninhibited art. For example, I make art in my “art room.” I never call it my “art studio.” That sounds too fancy & puts too much pressure on me to make “real art.” I don’t make “real art.” I make Jenny art.
This piece took me 26 minutes.
