Daddy Fartypants has a problem – he farts ALL THE TIME! And what’s worse is that he never owns up. Every time he does a bottom burp he blames someone else, whether that’s a tiny baby, a snail or a bear on the telly. It’s all a bit too much for his poor son who is embarrassed by both the smell and the white lies. But then one day Daddy Fartypants gets a taste of his own medicine when his son’s new teacher, Miss Lovelybear lets out a massive paaaaaaarp and blames it on him! Daddy Fartypants is mortified, but is it enough to make him to change his ways? A book about farting bears was always going to be a winner with toddlers, but this story really is great fun and has a lovely little message about telling the truth. We love the illustrations (particularly the long-suffering son’s facial expressions!) and our attempts at making all the farty noises always result in lots of giggling. Amusingly, the moral has prompted Ivy to start owning up herself. Every little bodily noise she makes currently results in her yelling ‘Farty bum! That was me!’. It’s pretty cute (except when we were getting her feet measured at the local shoe shop!). Buy it now: https://amzn.to/2Zfi64X

Most parents will be familiar with the sense of trepidation you feel when starting a busy day with a small child in tow. You know it’s *possible* that everything could go to plan, but realistically you’re going to be late for everything (if you even manage to get out of the door at all). Such is the plight of Mama Bear who has a very long list of things she needs to achieve before the end of the day, starting with dance class and a trip to the supermarket. Little Bella Bear has other ideas though. She wants to bounce on her bed. She wants to wear the red outfit and not the blue outfit. She wants to count the stairs slowly on her way down. She wants an elaborate breakfast (which she inevitably wouldn’t eat!). She doesn’t want to brush her teeth. She might want to use the potty though – but not until it’s time to leave, and not without reading at least 3 books whilst she ‘tries’. Sound familiar? After a few false starts they eventually leave the house, but when Mama spots Bella looking stressed out in the back of the car she decides to throw all of her plans out of the window and start afresh with a visit to the park. And so starts the perfect day! @rachelbrightbooks is a firm favourite in our house so I pre-ordered this one as soon as I was able and was very excited when it arrived. It’s the perfect reminder to us parents that sometimes we just need to slow down and let our little ones lead us to where they want to go (even if that means spending 45 minutes pretending to be a friendly crocodile in a swamp like I did this morning!!!) AD- These two girls believe they can do anything they put their minds to, Iris believes she can be a unicorn when she grows up, I cant bring myself to tell her its physically impossible but I love the fact that she has the imagination to take her on that particular career path! They've been reading this beautiful new picture book about another, very imaginative little girl...Sophie Johnson: Detective Genius, written and illustrated by @moraghood and @ellaokstad, its the 2nd in the series, and tells the tale of Sophie's hard work as a detective, but the real star of the story is right under her nose! The girls loved it, they laughed when they realised the twist in the tale and they adored the bright colours and pretty pictures along the way. It's another beautiful book from @simonkidsuk and I know we will be enjoying #SophieJohnson and her expertise at storytime for years to come!

I think I may have read this book every single day of my childhood. I remember thinking my mom loved it, but it was probably me begging her to read it again and again . That however, is a few of my favorite things about picture books 1- They can be loved by kids and adults alike. The shared love creates a bond and so many happy memories. 2. They can be read multiple times in one sitting. (This I loved more as a child, than I do as the adult reading the same book over and over ). This is one reason I continue the search for GOOD picture books. Do you have a book you remember reading multiple times as a child?
