I had hesitated before posting this image. I was toying with the idea of setting up a specifically kink-oriented Instagram account. I decided not to for two reasons: firstly, with the current sex-negative crackdown that’s happening across the Internet, I think it’d be for the best that we’re all a bit more open about what we like. Kink isn’t something that’s dirty, or shameful. Everyone has their own things they like to do behind closed doors, and admitting that would, I believe, go a long way in combatting the sex-negativity and shaming that kinky people face every day. Secondly, three times this week I’ve heard the quote “you’re truly being yourself when you’re the same person in front of everyone.” Now everyone who knows me knows I don’t get embarrassed easily and am pretty open, but this resonated with me strongly. Over the past year, I’ve learned so much, and discovered so much about myself, in no small part due to the incredible kinky community here in Perth. And that’s what we should all be doing; raising each other up, educating one another, and allowing each of us to express ourselves authentically.
