Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold to highlight its mending rather than concealing it, showing the cracks encourages us to see the object has a unique history and worthy to be better than it was before. However, before this healing there is a time of displacement, loss and darkness. Transition (2016) is sentiment to that time. with time and help fragility can turn to strength and wisdom.
✨ KINTSUGI ✨
Also known as Kintsukuroi, is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending areas of breakage with lacquer mixed with powered gold ✨

If you saw my story a few days ago I have been rapidly working on this piece to enter an art competition! Thankfully I was able to enter so wish me luckkk!!
It was extra stressful cause this piece is bigger then how I normally work (18x24”!) and it was acrylic which I don’t use often. I wish I had more time to refine it but overall I’m happy with it ♡
Swipe to see the full version as well as some behind the scenes stuff!
