No lie, I had someone tell me last week she feels, “ If you didn’t grow up eating fried chicken, mac n cheese, and collard greens, you ain’t Black.” Jokes on her, little did she know...my mother owns a soulfood restaurant in Connecticut, I did eat that kind of food growing up and still do, and oh, just because a person may not eat that kind of food, doesn’t make them any LESS black. I’m #SpanishRICEandCornbreadFed !

Diamond -hardest naturally occurring substance.
The malu takes it's name from a particular motif of the same name tattooed behind the knee, it is one of the key motifs not seen on men (Malofie). According to Suluape Paulo II, women were also tattooed on the hand & lower abdomen.
Mentioned previously in olden times only a Sāmoan Taupou (daughter of a High Chief) was the only one to bare these marks. The malu or the 4 points on the diamond each represent God, Culture, Family, &Nu'u (Country) all these points combined make a Sāmoan woman & the obligations she has. The placement behind the knees is done in one of the most sensitive & painful area as it is the fold which one cannot strengthen because it's untouched by the sun. The top of a traditional Sāmoan fale (house) is known as the malu, it allows for flow of air & controls temperature of a house (what we know as a ventilation system). It is known within the Sāmoan culture that a woman is the one in control of the tempature within her household (family). She is the rock of each family, maintaining a stable home that has harmony & peace.
The number of diamonds one bears is dependent upon the Tufuga Tatatau, if you have ever looked closely you may notice there is a difference with the malu being designed differently nowadays compared to the olden days. The older Tufuga Tatatau had either 1 or 2 diamonds (malu), the 2 malu's represent the siamese twins who brought the tools to our shores from Fitiuta. The 3 malu's are said to be a blessing from the Su'a Aiga, it represents a closeness the bearer has with the Tufuga (relative). A barer with 3 malu's display a strong mana & royalty (some have said it represents royalty, in a way it does as the Tufuga Tatatau Aiga were treated like royalty). We are reminded of her strength & endurance throughout her life. She is strong. She is fearless. She is passionate. She is love.
Since we have started this page, our passion has always been to deliver knowledge like our fathers with passion like our mothers. May we always search for the significance of our marks within our family bloodlines, wear it with pride as it links you back to your ancestors. #AigaStrong

Deer Lake was known as “Fighter’s Heaven” because it was out of the way, keeping the champ’s focus where it needed to be. The peace and solitude of the Pennsylvania retreat helped the GOAT focus on one thing and one thing only -
