Favourite outdoor activities?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hiking⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am not talking walking along the beach ( which we also love ) but real hiking in National Parks, Bush, Mountains.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And boy did we do many km of hikes! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We did grade 5 hikes in Karijini N.P ( only for very experienced hikers ahum ;) ) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A very rocky bush hike in the mountains of Spain ( including a 2-year-old Sem at that time, who walked most of it ) - Needless to say that hike would normally take us like 2 hours with kid on our back, but we did it in 4 as our Little Man just wanted to walk on is own ( of course ;) ) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And many many more of those. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have been out of the running for a year due to a stupid knee injury, and although I am not able to run yet, hiking is back on! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now we are in Sydney for a few months we did a few in the Blue Mountains and if we ask Semmie what he wants to do on a Sunday his answer is always: ' A bushwalk and a playground ' ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
MTB⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Another fave which I love, but here it's not very practical now we are travelling and storage is limited and bike/car accidents occur often here in Australia. Also, when we lived in Cairns I witnessed a bike/car accident where I helped the victim and the car just drove off! Can you believe it?! I was just about to buy a bike, but that accident made me realise I would wait till we settle somewhere near bush/mountains to enjoy it rather than watch for my life⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
♀️ Climbing ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I always loved climbing. From a young age, I climbed in the highest trees with my bro and neighbour friends. Wouldn't do trees anymore and also not pro climbing with ropes and high steep cliffs, but just free climbing safe and easily accessible mountains or big rocks. I did quite a few in Northern Queensland when the boys just waited below probably thinking; 'Oh here she goes again' ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now Sem is older, funny enough he seems to have a talent for rock climbing and those climbing walls, but you won't find him in one of those massive playground spiderweb climby thingies⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Infinity pool with a view, @westernaustralia-style. @the_freedom_traveler calls @LakeArgyle Resort & Caravan Park a “magic place” because, well, as you can clearly see it really is! #LakeArgyle is situated at the end of one of the most scenic drives in @australiasnorthwest; it can be reached on a cruise up the #OrdRiver from #Kununurra with @triple_j_tours and @lakeargylecruises, or a scenic flight with @kimberleyairtours and @helispirit. The #Infinitypool is open to all day guests, accommodation and caravan park guests, so check in for a few days to relax and take in all the stunning @thekimberleyaustralia scenery.

Kelly's knob lookout in the heart of #kununurra in @westernaustralia was lit up last night with another scrub fire. While the mighty Boab Tree watches on.

Can you spot Lion in the first picture?
.
This is another rockpool close to Kununurra. When you drive towards Wyndham, around 30k's out of Kununurra you will see a sign on your right saying: Ngamoowalem Conservation Park
.
Shortly after that yellow sign, you will see a gravel/sandy road ( is doable with a 2 wheel drive in normal conditions ( not in - or straight after the wet season - we attempted this one time with a 2 wheel drive after the wet before we had our 4x4 and let's say we wouldn't recommend it ;) .
It's a 3km track which ends at a little parking spot/ bbq area and then leads you to the waterfall and rockpool
.
If you want the pool for yourself, as we had here on this occasion, go very early in the morning, late in the afternoon and on a weekday as it can get very busy over here and it's only a small rock pool
.
Swipe for the images of the road, the sign and the little picnic area
.
And... Did you spot Lion already in the first picture?
In for some Tarzan and Jane action while in the Kimberley?
. Head to the Grotto
.
But watch the freshies .
Only 73k's from Kununurra ( which is nothing in outback terms ) you will find this refreshing swimming hole down in an amazing canyon. There can be fresh water crocodiles around so be careful. We always sat on the rocks in the waterfall stream, but we saw many people swimming in the poison green water
.
We will write about the crocodiles in the Kimberley in another post soon.
.
The Grotto is perfect in combo with a visit to the nearby town of Wyndham
.
Read our previous post about how to go there
.
Have you visited the Grotto before?

Did you know: The striking Bungle Bungle Range in World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park was a secret from the outside world until 1983.
It's a spectacular landscape of sculptured rocks rising 250 metres (820 feet) above the surrounding semi-arid savanna grasslands and the most outstanding example of cone karst in sandstone anywhere in the world.
