Looking to get off the beaten path? Kyushu might be the place for you! Full of stunning scenery, hot springs and sacred historical sites like the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine (pictured). The highly spiritual atmosphere surrounding this Shinto shrine is one of the reasons why it is a well-known power spot among locals. Those who visit the shrine and touch the Hogeto Iwa Stone are said to be granted good luck, while the Tree of Nagi, the shrine's sacred tree, is said to grant good luck for relationships because leaves of Nagi are hard to "tear off". The Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine is as difficult to find as its name is to pronounce. The shrine is hidden among the forests surrounding Takamori, a small town that lies in the Aso region of Kumamoto Prefecture. Photo by @pat_kay #VisitJapanAU #Tradition
