C L A S S T O M O R R O W | my @indabayoga beauts we are going to be looking at some partner backbends and breaking down some elements of this flow Class is 5.30-7pm and you can come with a friend or come alone, absolute beginners will be very looked after If you can’t make it to class but want to play with this flow (it’s a really fun one!) then tag your acro besties below and in the spirit of full disclosure & #failfriday head to my stories to see a slightly less smooth version of this | Wearing @aloyoga from @sportseditteam #gift
A N S W E R I N G | your AcroYoga questions on my stories over the last 24 hours has really reminded me why I share this practice online. AcroYoga has really unlocked a feeling of empowered strength and an admiration for my body as a functional entity rather than something I need to mould to look a certain way. It has reminded me that movement can (and should) spark joy and connection and maybe my biggest lesson of all has been that if someone says you can’t do it, do it twice & take pictures ✌️

Sharing this magic with people brings me so much joy, a lot of questions I got were along the lines of how do you prepare to be ‘strong enough’ to start AcroYoga, my answer = by doing AcroYoga! Every class I teach is extremely nurturing of beginners, I know what it’s like to be a beginner (that’s why I started pole dancing last year to remind myself!) and I know the bravery it can take to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. I promise you that the best way to get strong & confident is by actually doing it. So please know that you are welcome to my weekly Saturday class at @indabayoga and the next workshop @yogaloftlondon on Sunday 24th March (link in bio) | Best clothes @joehicksmusic

C H R O N I C P A I N | & illness once drove a wedge between me and my body. It validated a societal message aimed at us women that our bodies are inherently bad, things to be fixed. Chronic illness and messed up beauty standards met in a fairly toxic melting pot that fuelled my belief that my body didn’t deserve to be nourished and treated with love

I now realise that part of the reason why I felt so betrayed by my body was because I felt entitled to movement without pain & restriction. Like most other able bodied people, I didn’t understand that moving our bodies and not being in constant pain is in fact a privilege and not a right. Due to the fluctuating nature of my condition, I am now lucky enough to occupy both an able bodied space and a disabled space and I’m grateful for the perspective this gives me. Last month I was hit with one of the worst flare ups I’ve had in years, yes I felt down about it and had a few mini-meltdowns when I realised I was no longer able to do the things I had started to take for granted, but ultimately I am lucky enough to be coming out the other side of it with a renewed respect and appreciation for what this body does for me

Today, I may not be up to AcroYoga flowing like the above, but I was able to get dressed by myself, travel to teach my classes and this evening I will be able to shower without assistance. It might not seem like much but it feels like a big victory to me
Floating with @yanailevor this made me feel strong and Yanai makes this very easy to base!

Thanks to Yanai and @avnerhochfeld, @acro.israel exists. I am inspired by the passion and dedication they bring to their individual acro practice and teaching, and also their commitment to the community here in Israel and abroad. I feel so lucky I can learn from them. And thanks to them, the Acro Israel convention exists! I’m honored to have been selected to teach this year amongst many other talented acrobats and teachers. It’s happening in May! I’ll be teaching acro basics and an intermediate L-basing class. I’m so excited! .

Will I see you there Tickets are on sale already, so if you visit @acro.israel you can find a link to the websitecomment if you’re coming this year!!

"É quando damos um passo para fora da nossa zona de conforto, em ação ou pensamento, que nós expandimos e realmente modificamos a energia nas nossas vidas. Nós sacudimos. Quer seja um novo hábito alimentar, uma nova maneira de se exercitar, uma nova forma de apreciar, uma nova forma de perceber..." - Dr. Shefali - inspired by @londonladybase ❤️
