Izzy’s mom here . I have to admit that I was a total workaholic before Izzy. I used to work at nights, over weekends, and on holidays. I was tethered to my phone, checking emails at every beep. Since Izzy came to my life, I can’t believe that I love coming home and spending time without needing to be connected at every moment. I love going out walking with her. It is so strange because I used to drive everywhere. I have seen so many parts of my neighborhood that I had never seen before and met so many neighbors. Lately I've been thinking about how thankful I am for Kaiser Kaiser has never been inclinded to be a "cuddly" boy, though he is totally a Velcro dog. I always chalked it up to him just being a hot dog and not really being a cuddler. A few months ago someone who made plans to spend his life with me made the choice to walk away from that future. Since then, my anxiety has gotten much worse and everyday is a really up and down rollar coaster ride. During that time, Kaiser decided that he loved cuddling me. He is always right next to me when I'm sitting or laying down and is constantly nudging me (aka smacking me with his face) for pets. I'm so thankful that I have him here to help me through this valley, and so amazed at how far he's come in the two years and some months he's been with us here in his forever home. It's especially amazing to see how his love and trust in me has grown over the last 12 months. Many know Mu is dog selective. She has dog friends, as long as we go through the steps needed for her to feel safe. But, many don't know she is not cat friendly. And yes, we have 2, most recently 3 cats. Foster failing Malibu was a no brainer for us. We knew we could figure out the home dynamics. We worked out a system so everyone is safe, happy and loved. What we never expected are the lessons that Malibu would teach us along the way that we are so thankful for. Patience, comfort in a new routine, flexibility, and being more outspoken to name a few. There are so many areas outside of home life she is with us without being present. Knowing that silly smile is waiting and depending on us gives us comfort. It's provided us strength as a family, and individually. She has been a nurturer to us as much as we have been to her. Helping us through some very difficult times as a family. As we continue to be the best providers we can for her, she unknowingly provides us so much and those quirks are why we love her so much. She doesn't need to please anyone, she just needs to be Malibu. Our little imperfect beautiful snowflake. ❄ A part of our family now and forever. . . Who rescued who? My 3 truly complete my husband and my lives. When we are having a disagreement Angel always knows and just puts her head on our laps to remind us how much we love her and us. They protect us when we are alsleeps. Protect us on our hikes. Keep the home safe when we are out. Their fur has dried many a tears !! Happy or sad.
