I’m stunned into oblivion by the response to the Lily of the Valley Collection release two nights ago. Heaps of physical, mental, and emotional labor went into those pieces, and that they all found homes so quickly brought me to the happiest tears. This business was a dream of mine for years before I brought it to life. Before I could afford to officially pursue metalsmithing, I kept the idea of it alive by writing brainstorms and sketching ideas in notebooks and buying a stone here and there whenever I could scrape together a few extra dollars. To see what those small but consistent efforts ultimately blossomed into still blows my mind and overwhelms me with the most intense gratitude. I can’t say this enough: thank you all for being here, for sharing this experience with me, for supporting my work via purchases, likes and comments and shares, word of mouth, and kind DMs. I know there was some frustration over things selling out so quickly, and I’m sorry about that, but please know I’m doing my best to make as much as I can for each collection without compromising quality or hurting myself. I can’t believe I’m finally saying this: the Lily of the Valley Collection is now available! I feel so fortunate to have been able to work with such stunning, high quality vesuvianite gems in my favorite shade of green for these pieces. To pair them with intricate silhouettes of one of my favorite flowers was a complete joy, and I hope that joy shines through each and every piece. Inspired by the allure of lily of the valley flowers, and by the secret poisonous quality these beautiful blossoms use to protect themselves, these rings are meant to serve as a shield against negativity, a boundary between yourself and draining forces, and a reminder to guard your own happiness and peace. Handmade lily of the valley, sawed from my own drawings of this enchanting flower, bloom along each side of the ring’s wide tapered band. Their boundary formation echoes all that these delicate flowers do to protect themselves, and reminds us to do the same. High quality and rare vesuvianite in luscious green shades radiates its grounding, stabilizing, and negativity-purging energy to the wearer. This stone glows magically bright in direct light and appears more earth-toned in low light - a stunning duality. These amulets of self-preservation are part of my upcoming Lily of the Valley Collection release on 7/24 at 8pm est. Two feature warm 14k gold fill settings and are size just over 6 1/2 and size 8 1/4. The other three feature fine silver settings and are size 9, 10 3/4, and 7 1/4. Please note that these are the sizes that each ring fits on my mandrel (ring forming/sizing tool), but wide bands tend to feel more snug than standard bands, so some people prefer to size up 1/4 to 1/2 size. Lily of the valley symbolizes a return to happiness. How fitting for this collection to follow The Cruellest Month, a collection that was inspired by the pain of growth. Lily of the valley’s delicate bell-shaped flowers and intoxicating fragrance draw many to it, but under the alluring exterior lies a secret defense to stop animals from eating its seeds. Each part of this plant is highly poisonous if ingested, causing a host of symptoms including abdominal pain, reduced heart rate, blurred vision, and even death. When we are radiant and prolific, we - like lily of the valley - must have defenses in place to protect against those who may seek, intentionally or not, to feed off our energy or project their negativity onto us. I craft each piece in this collection to do just that: to serve the wearer as a protection amulet, a boundary, a reminder to guard your own happiness. I’ve needed this reminder at many times in my life, especially during recent periods of intentional living and self-healing, and it’s no coincidence that lily of the valley also happened to appear in my mind and my life during those same periods.
