Core exercises with rotational component for Diastasis?

When designing #coreexercises for #diastasisrecti we have to be aware of the anatomy of the #abdominalwall . In previous posts I talked about how #diastasisrecti is an impairment of the linea alba.

The #lineaalba is the midline fibrous line formed by the fusion of the rectus abdominis sheat. In other words, the linea alba is a band of fibrous tissue that runs midline through the abdominal wall. .
Progressive load of the linea alba will be an essential factor when performing #diastasisrectiexercises . The linea alba connects our #obliques that are part of the spiral #myofascial line. The upper spiral line continues from the serratus into the #externalobliques, which connect fascially across the fascial sheet of the opposite side. So, the linea alba is the connection (the zipper) between both lines.
If the linea alba is impaired or weakened normally our rotational capacity is as well impaired. You see, why we can’t neglect #antirotationalexercise ?

Instead of working with the classic rotational crunch exercises that increase pressure and are likely to not tension the midline, I choose positions that load the midline while working the spiral line without increased pressure. .
Here is an example of three different exercises (supine, kneeling and sitting) with #theraband to focus in the #spiralline and rotation.

The theraband is perfect to add variable resistance to our trunk muscles during the exercise!

As you can see I’ve exemplified three different exercises from my #diastasisrecti training course:
1. Theraband wall bridge. With #miniband around thighs to add more resistance to the leg abduction. Perfect combination to activate #glute and the oblique line.
2. Theraband Row.
One of my favourite exercises to focus on the anterior #myofascial line and at the same time to add a rotational component with help of the theraband.
3. Theraband Rotation while sitting. Perfect #exercise to train trunk rotation while stabilizing pelvis. .

Also known as the white line, the linea alba is the fibrous structure that zips the midline of the abdomen from pubis to sternum.

You can feel it in the depression between the left and right rectus abdominis muscle

I wanted to touch base again with this topic again because there is still a huge lack of knowledge about the role of the linea alba in #diastasisrecti .
I’ve recovered a landmark paper published by Coldrón et al., (2008) entitled “postpartum characteristics of the rectus abdominis on ultrasound imagining” that shows us the difference in the linea alba of a postpartum woman compared to control.

In the ultrasound you can see the difference in the width and also in the thickness. In this paper they analysed the changes produced in thickness, shape and width over the first year of postpartum. They found that the rectus abdominis and linea alba during early postpartum is thinner and wider. Interestingly, after 12 months #postpartum some diastasis did not return to control values.

Reason why #postnatalfitness programs should last as much as needed (not 4 or 3 months) .
It’s still a misconception to think that #diastasisabdominal is only about getting strong the rectus abdominis. .
If you don’t target the zipper that holds together your #rectusabdominis all efforts will be of non value. .
In all my #diastasis awareness #programs this is the first - first & first principle! .

Clinically there is a lesion at the level of lasts 2 molars of right side,traumatic lesion.
Patient was asked if he grind his teeth and he confirmed.
