I do not own rights to this music
Does your class love to play restaurant like my kids do?! I created these menus so I can go with their restaurant obsession and practice math, reading and writing skills while they play!
I got some real menu sleeves from amazon, so my students can write on the menu and add up their total bill. I also created play money in my #tpt store that they can use to really pay for their food!
The link for the menus and play money is in my bio

This is a story about being human. A story about rediscovering the child within—no fear of rejection, no thought of failure—just the inner child pursuing the adventure of an idea.
.
Dad, can I have a hot chocolate stand?” he asked. “Sure, son” I replied, “But it will take some work and money to get started.”
.
Since she wanted to help too, he “hired” his sister. What you see first is a picture of their first earned dollar. The third picture is a list he made. If your eyes are bad, I understand. Here’s what it says: “Make the stand. ✅ Make the sign. ✅ Think about the money bank. ✅ “
.
He then drew the stand on the back. We bought supplies, made the sign, heated the water, set up the table, and sat out in below freezing temperatures. They offered marshmallows and candy canes as accessories. It was adorable.
.
But what stands out even more than learning business skills (i.e. thinking about the money bank) is how he put his heart on the line. And how his sister stood proudly beside him. The video is a clip of them waving and hoping for customers. More cars passed by than stopped. But they didn’t care. They kept at it, their egos intact.
.
I wish I could say the same. My ego has been bruised, my ideas have been rejected, and my projects have failed. Such things leave entrepreneurs, leaders, and, quite frankly, any human with an idea, hiding behind procrastination, perfectionism, or some other excuse that prevents them from waving at cars and bringing attention to the work they poured their heart and soul into.
.
Yet, the more I embrace my inner child, the less wounded I am if cars don’t stop at my stand. I have people who believe in me. And a God who, as best as I can discern, guides me. Because of those things I can put my heart on the line, just like my kids. My identity isn’t in my idea or my work. Those things flow out of who I am, but they’re not who I am.
.
Thank you, Landon, for your hot chocolate stand. I tried to teach you about money banks; you taught me how to be brave. And may we all—parents, siblings, and humans alike—stand boldly beside those we love. Every human needs a Kennedy.
