Let’s talk movie etiquettes! So going to the movies in the Philippines has a lot of amazing perks— you can bring food in, tickets are generally cheaper, some movies come out a little earlier, and don’t even get me started on luxury theaters with lazy boys and butlers because that’s like a decade old concept here and it cost $10. . .. Butttttt of course there’s down sides to it and most just falls under the concept of etiquettes. I’m sure it’s not just Filipinos because I looked it up online, and it’s always expats complaining about their movie experience in x country, Philippines included. People talk during the movies. Like conversation talk, not just occasional comment dropping. Some talk about the film, others try to explain it to their date, some are making very corny jokes about the scene, and others just... talk. Scary movies aren’t any better because there are others who scream just right before a jumpy scene so it ruins the entire scare tactic for you. Others even bring infants and refuse to take their baby out when it’s clearly inconsolable. It’s annoying, it’s rude, and quite frankly I find as a bit of ignorance. I’ve definitely had a lot of share of my unpleasantness coming out during these sensitive times . .. Let me be clear that I’m not referring to all Filipinos— but just the majority of those I’ve sat in a movie theater with. I mean come on. I watched Beauty and The Beast with my younger cousins, and I was about to tear up during the dance scene when they started singing along to the song FFS. ‍♀️ . .. So when it comes to big movies, we try to avoid opening weekends as much as possible, but we couldn’t wait to watch End Game so we went on a Monday at 10am and the theater was practically empty. But let me ask you... if you know what I’m talking about, or if you’re offended because you’re one of those that do talk during the movies, would you say this is just a cultural thing? Or is it a social class thing? I am genuinely curious!

[ad] Oh you didn’t hear?! It’s all about mom fanny packs right now! Except this is really a hipseat. You know I’m all about babywearing and although I love my slings and wraps, I’ll never snub off the life changing capabilities of hipseat carriers. I love my @miamilybabycarriers Hipster Smart, as seen here in hipseat mode! He loves to be carried and this has been a lifesaver for my poor back. FYI though, the seat actually doesn’t slide down and he doesn’t really slouch like that when he’s on it, but you know... mom life... the boy’s resistance from taking pictures today was inexplicable and I’m old and weak so this is what we look like (and so did the other 52 that didn’t make the cut). That said, it’s been a long weekend, and we capped it off with some Richard Curtis movie. If a Richard Curtis film doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy at the end, you are dead inside. We did “About Time” which I’ve always loved, but still gave me the feels tonight
