У нас в ЮК сейчас неделя внимания к психическому здоровью. ⠀ В моем случае #Депрессия была следствием потери слуха после операции на голову. Я проснулась после наркоза, и мне сказали, что вероятно буду хуже слышать, и это минимум 18 месяцев пока восстанавливается мозг и тело. ⠀ Что это значило, было сложно оценить сразу. Я сейчас планирую в проекте #активистесс создать именно психологическую поддержку взрослым, кто резко потерял слух. Я не вижу этого спасательного круга нигде в системе. ⠀ На 2 года мне было легче отдалится от людей, чем переспрашивать у них, претворятся, что я все слышу ок, и выглядеть уверенной в себе. Я тупо перенесла все общение на телефон и никуда не ходила. К вечеру на глазах был нервный тик от перенапряжения. ⠀ Сказать кому-то об этом было не по силам. Из здоровой, красивой, успешной женщины (только что родившей сына) я превратилась в существо ощущающее себя недоделанной, тупой, глухой и некрасивой. Я прекрасно играла противоположную роль, как способ выживания и я по натуре Победитель... НО депрессия пришла сразу, так как я не могла адекватно оценить новый мир без звуков и разговоров. Это был долгий и безвыходный ужас. ⠀ Слуховые аппараты вернули мне не только звук но и #психическоездоровье. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #beBodyKind ⠀ #hearingloss = #depression ⠀ On these pics - how I looked few years ago might have been deceiving. Behind the mask there was a deep depression. I was just good in hiding it to survive. ⠀ This did happened to me. Not being able to hear all of a sudden after a head surgery had made me feel ugly, disabled, not healthy and rejected. ⠀ I wish there would be a process in place to offer #mentalsupport to people who just have underwent the head surgery and are likely to lose #hearing. I am actually working on fixing this in my project #Activistess ⠀ I could no longer hear people clearly and all conversations were muffled. ⠀ Even when I told people - “I can’t hear” and “could you please repeat” - it didn’t seem to mean much to them. They raised their voices and repeated but it didn’t make much of a difference, as I still couldn’t hear. So after some time I felt like a burden. ⠀ It was easier to stop communicating at all. I was avoiding social events, I had scheduled all my meetings to be on the phone and I didn’t know how to tell anyone about what I am going through. In the evenings i was so tired of keeping my ears “tuned” into the sounds that I would have a nervous tick around my eyes. ⠀ I was totally depressed. Hearing Loss often has this effect on mental health. Sadly, it is not discussed openly ... ⠀ I must honestly say that wearing #hearingaids gave me back my mental health and sanity. #confidence is everything. ⠀ Please be kind to your loved ones and to yourself. I was still shy today to wear a ponytail to “government meetings”. ⠀ But then I felt it is so important to be open and raw here. Look. I am human. To function, I need to hear. ⠀ thank god today for technology. I was confident and not for a moment I had to strain my mind to double check if I have heard it right ... ⠀ No more hiding! ⠀ In the morning I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I saw #hearingaids very visible.
