Longleat House, Warminster. Completed in 1580 by Sir John Tyne, Longleat house is one of the finest examples of Elizabethan architecture. The beautiful house, with its 130 rooms, is set in 9,000 thousand acres of land. The landscapes were designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown - one of the best English landscape architects of his time. The house became the first stately home to open its doors to the public on the 1st of April 1949. In 1966, the Safari Park opened and it was the first drive through Safari Park outside of Africa. People flocked to see the Lions - Lions roaming free in Wiltshire, madness! To this day, thousands of people still visit the Safari Park and the House.
