⚡Mothership Arrival Whiterock, CO ~Captured with the Fuji GFX 50s Medium Format Camera w/23mm lens~ At a very precocious age of 3 years old, my heroes were train engineers, and weathermen. Some of my fondest memories were declaring "Partly cloudy today with a chance of sun" Fast forward a half-lifetime, and I got to meet a lil buddy James and his awesome dad who were out stormchasing the Eastern plains of Colorado this summer. My lil buddy James is very knowledgeable about the monster supercell storms that erupt every summer and on that day, they came along to chase a tornado and see some incredible structure, lightning and amazing power of storms. The day grew late, hundreds of miles were spent outgunning and strategizing where to go, and suddenly, a very rare and beautiful LP (Low Precipitation) Supercell showed up on radar not to far from our position. We hastily made our way across the plains, and to our amazement, this beautiful green hail core LP storm was spinning a couple miles away! We spent the next 15 minutes documenting and marveling at the color, lightning and structure of this incredible cell, and made our escape route moments before the storm overwhelmed our safe position. The storm would later produce a tornado, but this was the peak moment, and one my lil buddy will remember for all his life.
