In speaking with the locals in Kaktovik, Alaska, they’ve noted that it’s been an unseasonably warm winter and the ice will be late in forming this year. This will have an impact for the local polar bear population, when it comes time to hunt seals for their food…” — Patty Waymire -- “This photo reminds me of a Mark Rothko painting with its strong horizontal swaths of color. What’s worth noting is that the brown rectangle in the middle should actually be white with snow by this time of year.
