This piece tested me in a few areas and after I finished now I just want to make one in every color. Also, it’s a really great feeling when the recipient loves it just as much as the maker.

This pattern is super adaptable to any width...just keep your number of cords multiples of 4. Also, there are quite a few really cool variations that could be done with the center of each triangle (working on a video for that right now) ➰➰ There is a much slower video on my YouTube channel already. Link in Bio! Thanks for watching! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I’ve got a love/hate relationship with macrame feathers. I do love looking at them and even making them sometimes. But I always wonder about how all that feather time could be spent developing different techniques or learning to fashion different objects out of knots. I’ll also admit to feeling some pangs of defeat when asked to swap my fish out for feathers in some of the dip dyed oceany designs I make. Being asked to remove traces of yourself from your designs can be hard. Yet, I still go into those projects by mustering the creative energy to make the best damn feathers I’m capable of. Because there’s part of me that has come to recognize that what you put into what you make is probably more important than what you’re actually making. These, right here, are the best damn feathers I’ve ever made. I made them using my 3mm recycled cotton string (which I use in my work pretty exclusively nowadays cause it’s seriously awesome). Each feather is dip dyed then dried multiple times to give it all the dimension possible. The thing itself might not be novel or terribly exciting. But the care that goes into it is still everything.
This is an elegant pattern, great lines and perfect for layering. This video is only part of the whole tutorial which I will have uploaded to YouTube this evening as soon as I get home from my kids’ choir concert! Tag me in your creations! I love to see what you come up with...it’s always inspiring! ➰
✨➰HOW TO MAKE A DIAMOND DESIGN WITH WOVEN CENTER ➰✨
Diamond designs are a decorative technique and are made with rows of diagonal double half hitch’s. There are many possibilities for the center of the diamond, but in this video we have used a simple weaving technique. Note that the first cord woven through is woven over, under, over... and the second cord is woven under, over, under... and so the pattern continues.
Watch on to see how we create this design in this series of 2 videos. You can also refer to our previous post on “how to tie double half hitch knots,” (which can be found in our LEARN highlights section.) As always we love making these mini tutorials and would love to here your suggestions on what else you would like to see
