Sometimes not getting what you wanted is a wonderful stroke of luck! It can be really difficult, confusing and uneasy when things don’t go how you thought but if you’re anything like me you look back and think... weeeelll, none of it really went how I thought it would and you know what... that’s okay! Because when I really think about what my life would be like had it done so, I literally screw my nose up in a eww i’d not be happy with it now, what was I thinking . One of the hardest things to overcome is leaving behind the “how it’s supposed to be/feel/look like/happen”. I say embrace the unknown (this used to cause panic if you’d asked me a few years ago), I now love the unknown, it’s so exciting, with this illness I’ve had no option but to and you know what over the last 11 years I’ve ended up in some pretty amazing situations that I could never have planned for. It’s true you never know what’s around the corner, and yes it might be something that’s not so nice but there’s always something in it to learn from and grow, my perspective of everything now is simply and adventure. By focusing on what didn’t happen the opportunities that are great for you instead could pass you by because you can’t even see them. Yes rejection is hard, yes it hurts, and letting go of the life you thought you should have isn’t easy, but guess what the outcome is... you get to create your own path, there’s no road to follow, your building it and making it along the way which means even if you can’t go the way you wanted it doesn’t matter because you just start building in a new direction, roads bend, they have detours, they even often meet back up at times, it can be a beautiful journey, yup, even with chronic illness, it can be so bloody beautiful follow what you feel is right for you, other peoples expectations or wishes and often advice on which path you should take only compound to this “how it should be” so go for it... be bold and brave and start creating your own path and see where it leads you.. and remember, there’s no right or wrong directions. It’s all up to you!
