You want a 'pizza' this week's #tptfreebie?! Of course pizzas make learning about fractions so much fun! This week's freebie 'Pizza Fraction Chef' includes one of our pizza fractions resources! In this activity students can either follow an order slip to create a pizza or create their own order slip and create a pizza! They need to read the order slip, draw the pizza and then write the ingredient fractions next to it. There are 2 different Pizza templates - quarters and eighths, with 9 different pizza order templates, and a page of blank order templates Check out the webby for our 'Design a Pizza Fraction' which leads on perfectly from this activity.

This week Jacinta @playtime.messy.madness and I are using felt balls or pom poms as our #manywaystoplay prompt. Pom poms can be a great concrete material to help with Maths concepts. Mr 6 is quite quick at solving addition mentally but if he gets an answer incorrect, he often can’t work out why. The use of felt balls or pom poms allows him to physically make addition and solve problems. It also shows me he’s at the stage of counting on from the largest number when adding (see in video.) Just draw 2 circles on a sheet of paper with a plus sign and then a circle for the solution. An extension of this is to ask your child to come up with a word problem reflecting their addition sum. Because when you relate Maths to real life it gives context and relevance to our children. #flisattable #flisattableplay #handsonlearning #mathscenters #mathscentres #playtolearn #learningmeetsplay #wherelearningmeetsplay #mathsonmondays #manywaystoplay #learningthroughplay #homeschoolingideas
