It’s officially been two years since I decided to take a leap of faith and work for myself. That decision was so much more than switching careers. It was about me taking the initiative to create a good life for myself. I did some serious soul searching and I came to the conclusion I never wanted to work for someone ever again. From that point forward I wanted complete creative control of my vision for success and how I was going to make a positive impact in the world. I can’t even begin to describe how insanely freeing it’s felt to have the lines between SHEA and EMPLOYEE be completely disintegrated. Personal training was simply an entry point into a much bigger vision for myself. I’m now making a super slow transition into emotional/spiritual men’s work. One on one coaching, group settings and facilitating retreats. I’m seeing it more than ever, there is an epidemic happening where men feel stuck and confused. The old game of chasing money, promiscuous sex, binge drinking, pornography, drug use and immature friendships is catching up to them. They know in their heart of hearts that something isn’t right. They are coming to terms with the fact that it’s completely unsustainable to have their cake and to eat it too. Which typically results in some sort of internal crisis. But that’s where the magic happens. That’s when the healing begins! My own journey proves that. So what’s it gonna be? How many more years need to pass you by doing the same shit? Your heart is begging you to get to know it on a deeper level. This April I’m hosting my first official Men’s Circle where we embark on a journey together that will be the catalyst into a much richer existence. If we look at the division in the world today it's easy to see that it's a reflection of how wounded and disconnected from our hearts humanity has become. ⁣ ⁣ It's common nowadays for people to express love only in the most superficial manner, and whether they do so in thought, word, or even deed it is often fleeting. ⁣ ⁣ Remember that it's not love if as soon as you step out of their favor or fail to meet their expectations for you, their "love" turns into dislike or even hate. ⁣ ⁣ This type of love cannot be considered love for it has no compassion, it lacks patience, understanding, and empathy. So be weary of those who say they love you with agenda, because it is more likely manipulation to get you to meet their needs at your expense. ⁣ ⁣ This goes for family members and intimate partners especially. Ask yourself if the way you are treated by them or the words they say support you in your freedom.⁣ ⁣ Several of my clients have had to do the difficult work of cultivating Self-love to be able to erect healthy boundaries againist co-dependent partners and enmeshed family members who despite their best intentions are toxic to them and impact their capacity to live their life as they wish to live it. Often this process requires a full separation or in some cases a complete severing of ties.⁣ ⁣ You may also be the one who lacks the love in your heart, who cannot feel love, which means it's your responsibility to do the inner work necessary to heal and open your heart that your love in thought, word, feeling and action becomes fully aligned.⁣ ⁣ The truth remains that it is much easier to love those who are similar to us and reflect our best qualities, and much more difficult to love those who we judge or who judge us believing that we're their enemy. ⁣ ⁣ And while it's important to have an inner circle who shares similar values and loves us for who we are without agenda or motive, to develop our love into true unconditionality we have to continually invest energy into breaking through the barriers created by faulty programming and held in place by egoic delusion and illusions. ⁣ ⁣ Wishing you an open heart to love yourself and all life free! ⁣ ⁣ #spiritualheart

I’m tired of watching men try to perform a certain way in order to “earn” a partner’s approval. Men ask, ’What should I do to get/keep the girl?’. We spend our lives trying to impress, gain approval, and earn love. And we sell ourselves out in the process.

We spend a ton of energy trying to figure out what the right moves are, how to say the right thing, or how to show our feelings. 
We live in our heads, trying to figure out how to win the game, while expecting to still be in contact with our hearts. Inevitably, we are in constant conflict with ourselves. ..’How do I behave in a way that will gain approval, while still being myself?’.. That question is rooted deep in many of us, and it’s a sign that we have lost sight of the truth.

If you believe that you have to say, look, do, or be a certain thing in order to get love, you will be in constant conflict with the world, because you are self-rejecting. A self rejecting person will only attract more self rejection from the world.

The more weight you give to that story, the more the world will confirm it. You’ll continue to believe that you need to be something other than yourself in order to be worthy of love. The only way out is to untie the ropes holding that story together. Be bold, vulnerable, courageous, and be yourself, and you will be loved for who you are. Because you are worthy of love now, as you are.

This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t expect certain things from each other.
It is perfectly reasonable to have expectations for how you are treated.
We are allowed to disapprove or disagree with someone’s behaviour. This also doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have boundaries. Boundaries are healthy, and are often a sign of self-love. I love my brother, but I don’t spend time with him because he is abusive. He will always have my love. But I won’t tolerate his aggression. If there’s a part of you that still feels like you need to cross your own boundaries, sell yourself out, or be inauthentic in order to be loved, that is the inner-child that is still trying to get the approval of mommy or daddy. That part of you needs the ADULT YOU to show up with unconditional love FOR YOURSELF.

I’ve been making a lot of time for meditation lately. Its really had a profound impact on my day to day life. Honestly, I’m even hesitant to call it meditation because I want to reassure those that are new to this practice or know very little, that I’m not doing anything. I’m simply sitting. That’s it. I’m not trying to relax...I’m not trying to achieve anything. But what I am doing is “noticing”. Noticing what comes up in the present moment and not having to judge it. Being completely OK with the moment right in front of me. With consistency, I’ve noticed “space” between my thoughts. This space is really pleasant and familiar. Comparable to the feeling of being out in the cold all day, coming home and then drawing yourself a bath and settling into the warmth and relaxation. Or the feeling you get when you hug a loved one you haven’t seen in forever and the embrace feels powerful beyond words. When I make time to sit with myself there seems to be this subtle reassurance that everything is going to be ok. I’m learning to not only tap into this space within me but to be guided by it. Some crazy things have happened as the result of making this “sitting” and “noticing” a priority. Even to the extent that I’d argue that I’ve had more growth in moments of stillness in nature than in all of my efforts of “hustling” in my day to day life. When your inner world starts to become more and more anchored into something deeper...life starts to take on new meaning. A newfound resilience happens. That’s my experience anyways.
