Have you ever traveled to another country and wondered ‘is this water safe to drink?’ so you opted for a case of plastic water bottles? @LiveLARQ has found that the average person trusts their water source 65% of the time but it’s the other 35% of the time that we tend to reach for single-use plastic. Their mission in creating the world’s first portable water disinfection system is to give people access to clean drinking water at all times while helping end our dependence on plastic water bottles. With their bottle, it’s only 60 seconds to clean drinking water ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
By ditching plastic water bottles entirely, we’re choosing one of the EASIEST ways to reduce our personal waste stream. There’s so much more I want to share with you about this so I deep dove into this topic and shared some powerful, transparent information on my blog. If you’re worried about the cleanliness of other reusable water bottles, wanting a tool to purify your water when you travel or just wanting to drink confidently anywhere in your daily life – be sure to read more via the link in my stories #DrinkBrilliantly #DrinkSustainably [Sponsored]
"The loss of human lives, the destruction of the life-giving Gulf cannot be justified as an acceptable cost of doing business, but if we really do go forward with a commitment to do things differently henceforth, we will have gained something of enduring value. We must do better about thinking like an ocean, and thinking on behalf of those who will benefit–or suffer–from the consequences of our actions." Sylvia Earle to Congress on the Deepwater Horizon Disaster. ⠀

Today is the 9th anniversary of the Deep Water Horizon oil spill, and the effects in the Gulf of Mexico, including the Gulf of Mexico Deep Reefs Hope Spot, are still being felt by the people and wildlife that call it home. ⠀

"And really, in a very fundamental way, I'm changed forever because I lived underwater for two weeks in 1970. I wish that everybody could go live underwater, if only for a day." #SylviaEarle ⠀

Some days are great, and some days you get an eel up your nose. Here's to hoping your day is going better than this! ⠀
⠀
The eel was removed from the young seal's nose by specially trained experts from NOAA's Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program with no harm to the seal, though the eel did not survive the encounter. If you ever come across an injured or distressed marine mammal, please do not approach! The best way to help the animal is to call your local marine mammal rescue center, which is staffed with trained rescue and rehabilitate experts.⠀

Giant whale sharks, the bull sharks of Cabo Pulmo, and other ocean wildlife that endures in the Gulf of California Hope Spot make our hearts sing the sweetest song of hope - that one day, this area may resemble the picture of health it was 50 years ago.⠀
