full hands, full hearts Isaac was maybe more interested in his “big brother” balloon and sticker, but after some convincing storytelling (see my stories) we got a smile and a “bye-bye bay-beeee” wave goodbye from our biggest boy!

A year ago this week was the first time we were able to hold all three girls together after their birth. This is a HUGE milestone for families of preemie multiples! This finally happened on day 11 of our NICU journey, which now doesn’t seem like that long of a wait, but at the time felt like a lifetime. Before this point, Londy and Harley had spent some skin to skin time together with me since they shared a room, but Pollie was too far in the next room over to reach the other girlies. There was a conjoining door, but we had to wait until she was off her monitors in order for her to make the 8 foot or so journey into the next room to reunite with her sisters. It was a beautiful, amazing, overwhelming moment, and I’m so happy to be reminded of how far we’ve come now a year later ❤️

On the eve of our daughter’s 1/2 birthday I can’t help but reflect back to the day when my Doctor told me they HAD to be delivered THAT day. I had been admitted due to a condition in pregnancy called Pre-Eclampsia that can be very dangerous for moms and babies, and as you all know .. it took me for a RIDE. My husband Ben had just gotten back in town that morning from being the Best Man in our friend’s wedding (a wedding I had an amazinggg dress for and just knew I’d defy all odds and make it to.. clearly I was delusional!). ••• A few hours after hearing “we’re having a birthday today guys”... Ben was in a blue operating room outfit, my doctors were scrubbing in preparing for my surgery and I was sitting up for my epidural... terrified. What felt like forever but was only moments later three itty bitty 3ish pound babies came into our world. One by one my doctor held each little girl up and each cried!! Baby A! Baby B! And finally.. Baby C! What a sweet sound!! They were SO small!! I couldn’t believe I grew them inside of me for 8 months and that they were HERE! HERE breathing on their own, HERE putting up a fight, HERE holding our finger, HERE laying their heads on our chest and HERE to change our hearts and our world forever and ever. ••• Now they’re HERE laughing, smiling, rolling, babbling, sassing and eating up a storm!! They’re here following us out of the room with their eyes, trying to sit up, making snow angels in our bed, drowning in our kisses and sleeping in their cribs. They’re HERE staring at each other, pulling each other‘s hair and holding each other’s hands!! Our girls came on October 9th and on the eve of their 1/2 birthday I can’t help but to thank God they’re HERE❤️ ❤️❤️ Its C-section Awareness Month... sending LOTS of love to all my C-section mamas out there!! . . . . .
