CHAPTER THREE⠀⠀ The Letters from No One ⠀ .⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ Its that time again! We’re up to Chapter 3 in the #PSChapterChallenge and the wizarding world is getting closer! While today is just about Book 1, Chapter 3 I might mention some things from all 7 books/8 films/wider HP canon, so watch out for spoilers! ⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ Also, please feel free to agree/disagree/ share your thoughts in the comments below! Now, let’s start humming “tiptoe through the tulips” and nail up the mail slot. ⠀ .⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️Quotes Through the Ages: "They stuff people's heads down the toilet the first day at Stonewall... (Harry)⠀ Sassy Harry is the best and I’m so sad some of his sassiest moments were removed from the series! ⠀ ⚡️Moments of Magic: my favourite moment has to be when the letters are in the eggs! It’s so cool and definitely gives off the vibe of true magic! ⠀ The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter has to be one of the most iconic symbols of Hogwarts and Harry Potter. There are many things that say Harry Potter, but there are so many of us who are still waiting for our letters!! ⠀ ⚡️Foreshadowing Bits and Where to Find Them: [Reminder, Spoilers Ahead!] ⠀⠀ *Harry remembers his previous birthday gifts from the Dursley’s, mentioning a pair of Vernon’s old socks. These socks end up cushioning the Sneakoscope and then eventually are gifted to Dobby!⠀ *Also, the impromptu trip the Dursley’s take to outrun magic/the Trace echos the camping trip the Trio take in Deathly Hallows quite nicely, like bookends to the series. ⠀ ⚡️Outstanding Wizarding Legends: Harry wins again, even though the youngest Seeker in a century can’t catch one letter out of a million! Harry does do some creative thinking to try and get his letter, though, and gets upgraded from the Cupboard Under the Stairs to the Smallest Bedroom! ⠀ .⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀ So, what are your thoughts on Chapter 3 of Philosopher’s Stone? CHAPTER FOUR The Keeper of the Keys .⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ Chapter 4 of the #PSChapterChallenge - please share your thoughts in the comments below! Now, let’s whip out our flowery pink umbrella and deliver Harry his letter!! .⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀ ⚡️Quotes Through the Ages: “Harry -- yer a wizard." Hagrid’s talking about magic not calling you dumb lol Runner up 2: "About our world, I mean. Your world. My world. Yer parents' world." Such inclusive language from Hagrid. There’s a place for Harry, who’s been alone all his life. ⚡️Moments of Magic: Dudley’s pig tail! While I love Hagrid doing a non-verbal spell with a broken wand (like Ron in CoS) he should’ve stuck to something easier and levitated Dudley not human Transfiguration! ⚡️Foreshadowing Bits and Where to Find Them: [Reminder, Spoilers Ahead!] ⠀⠀ * “yeh've got yet mum’s eyes." First real mention of Harry having Lily’s eyes * We get the start of Lily and Petunias story here. * "All anyone knows is, he turned up in the village where you was all living, on Halloween ten years ago.” The best thing about JK is she’s not afraid to have her characters lie. Or, not lie, just only tell us their truth not the actual truth. * Mention of the McKinnons, the Bones and the Prewetts. Gideon and Fabian Prewett were Molly’s brothers. Marlene McKinnon was also in the original Order of the Phoenix. Edgar Bones is brother of Amelia (Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement) * “Some say he died. Codswallop, in my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die.” Horcrux foreshadowing * First mention of Hagrid’s expulsion, which is key for CoS. ⚡️Outstanding Wizarding Legends: Hagrid! He’s such a warm and friendly presence in Harry’s life. I just like the details and the writing is stunning and i think that’s what makes this book special, the story feels so real and the characters seem like an actual people and the more i read, the more they become a part of me. I still have about 200 pages left and I’m not ready to finish it
