I love it when customers’ random flavor selections make such pretty plates! I made 3 platters like this for a delightful new customer. She’s taking them to the memorial service of a dear friend...some years back, they had travelled to Paris together and took a macaron class, so she wanted to honor her friend and that memory of that wonderful time spent together by serving macarons. One of the best parts about my macaron business is all the lovely, interesting customers I have...I truly have met so many delightful people, and I love chatting with them and hearing their stories!

Orinda Formation conglomerate and the Caldecott Tunnels - more wanderings in my local Cali Coast Ranges and Franciscan Subduction Complex Pic 1 and 7 looking east at the parallel alignment of imbricated (directionally stacked) Orinda Formation pebbles including high/pressure blueschist facies pebbles ...you can see the imbrication in pic 6 Pics 2-5 Geologic cross section of the recently completed Caldecott Tunnel 4th bore. West end: Leona volcanics (>150 myo) were rafted into place during active subduction of the Farallon tectonic plate. East end: Moraga volcanics erupted locally ~10mya. They conformably overlie the grey Orinda Formation conglomerate as witnessed by a red baked zone at the contact (zoom in on pic 8) Pic 6 looking north you can see the Orinda Formation pebbles are nicely imbricated to show the direction of sediment flow was eastward .. so they were deposited during a time of reverse topography from what is seen today. ...in other words there were high hills to the west that have eroded away.
