Today isn’t day one. Today, my journey shifted again. It’s been 13 weeks since I’ve been to a class at Bar Method, but today I went to class. I’m 13 weeks postpartum and I feel like SO much has happened since my last class on April 2nd... the day before I had Kate. That’s because so much HAS happened. I had a c-section. I became a mother to a beautiful baby girl. I became a breastfeeding mother. Our family moved. I’m doing pelvic floor physical therapy. I have had one child with a tongue/lip tie revision and am in the process of preparing another one for revision in a few weeks. And a million other things I won’t bore you with! So this morning when I felt weak and out of shape during the first 5 minutes of class, I reminded myself that all that matters is I showed up. I set my alarm and made time for myself. I’m not starting all over. My journey just shifted and I am in the process of rebuilding again. And I will. Because I am strong. I am a fighter. I don’t give up easily. And most importantly, I love and appreciate my body enough to take care of it. PS- @barmethodkc it’s was SO good to be back!

Anyone else think Noah looks like he worked harder than me on the run here? The stroller running reminds me of my very first thoughts about having a baby and keeping up with my work and workouts.. I was a little worried There are 2 things I've learned from this when looking back that I thought might be helpful to share! 1. Everything seems harder before we're in it. Our mind has a tendency to overthink, underestimate our abilities and make things seem bigger than they will be. When we're in whatever situation, we're just living it moment by moment and the present is where we can take action. Taking action makes it all start to feel more doable. 2. We will prioritize things that are important to us. It doesn't have to be the same priorities as me, we're all different! But when you have something you really really want/need to do, you'll find small ways to get it done. It may not be simple or quickly done as you'd like but it's often more doable than we think! How do you prioritize and squeeze things in? We're all busy, babies or not

I was the Maid of Honor at my best friend’s wedding nearly 4 years ago. I was 3 weeks post baby and about 70-80 lbs heavier than the picture on the right. I gained 60 lbs with my first pregnancy, lost about 40 of those lbs, got pregnant with baby #2, then gained about 30 more lbs on top of the extra 20. It may have taken a while for me to get back on track, but I love this picture because it reminds me of how far I’ve come. Weight loss isn’t an easy journey by any means, especially after one or multiple pregnancies, late nights with infants and toddlers, and eating lots of leftover snacks and meals that the kids leave behind. At one point, I doubted that I’d ever feel good about myself again. I’m so glad I finally decided that my happiness and my health are more important than the momentary happiness of a bowl of ice cream or a slice of pizza. Running is therapeutic for my mind and my body and I love the way I feel when my body is properly nourished. I’ll never go back to my old ways. I’m still working on my goals, but if you are too, let this be a reminder that the end result is always worth it! Just because I talk about body positivity does not mean I love everything about my body. I was gifted this amazing suit from @swimusaofficial and when I put it on the first thing I felt was shame about my legs. Now... before you think I’m posting this fishing for compliments... listen up. . My legs have made me self conscious for years. I have had cellulite and stretch marks and wide hips and a booty for as long as I can remember. A few years ago I lost over 100 pounds and guess what? I was still self conscious about my legs. . Here is my point. Losing weight doesn’t always fix things. It might put a band-aid on an issue for a while, but if you don’t do the INSIDE work, it doesn’t matter one bit what you weigh. . I have cellulite on my thighs and rolls on my back that show in this suit. I’m gonna wear it anyways because all bodies are good bodies and just because I’m in a bigger body at this season of my life does not mean my kids shouldn’t be able to go to the pool because their Mom can’t get over her insecurities. Hello... I just had a baby and this is what #postpartum looks like for most of us. . I may not love my legs, I honestly don’t even like them, but I can appreciate them because of what they allow me to do everyday. Join me today and look at that body part in the mirror that makes you cringe and thank God for it. Who cares if it’s not perfect in your eyes... it’s perfect in His and that’s what matters.

It’s SO weird seeing pictures of myself alone. It’s like, why is there not a baby on my hip and where is the rest of my family?! Nope. It’s just me here. That very thought lead me to be reminded of what it once felt like to struggle with my identity as a mother. So many moms experience this battle of self care vs. Child care why?! Why does becoming a mom feel like losing yourself, your freedom, your sleep, and your confidence? Mamas, you are more than a mom. You deserve time for yourself every now and then. You deserve sleep like everyone else. You are not selfish for wanting to finish your meal. Motherhood is a privilege, a joy, an obstacle, and a miracle... but it is not your identity. You are you, with or without you children. You have so much to offer. Don’t you forget that.
