Completing any task takes longer than it used to because my brain and limbs just don’t work the same anymore. I take naps several times a week and stretch out my tight muscles multiple times a day. I never know how I’ll feel from one day to the next; I can wake up feeling great one morning and like I was ran over by a bus the next. • Do you have any idea how exhausting that is? Sun-kissed. Strolling a windy pier at sunset on wheels is way better than not strolling or rolling at all. I mean, I'm kind of clumsy so there is a concern that the only "safety rail" is a flimsy rope. But that's neither here nor there because I made it safely off that windy pier to tell you this. At one time I would have avoided it because I couldn't figure it out. I could barely walk, so I wasn't going to go. I couldn't wrap my mind around mobility aids...what I needed or what was even available to me or for me. In the last 4 years I have accumulated many aids. Canes, walkers, scooters. They have all served a supremely important purpose in my life...they have allowed me to keep an open mind and ask, "how can I?" rather than saying "I can't." #thisisms @wrussellj

Seeing myself for the first time in a full-length mirror broke me down The steroids really make you look like a different person... And on top of that, I had lost so much weight Thankfully, my mother was sweet enough to turn the camera off and give me a moment.‍♀️ I spent countless hours in this room trying to gain my strength back, ️‍♀️ But I still couldn’t feel much of my lower body... No choice but to keep moving... To keep trying. Side note: I know you see me wearing the same outfit again and again... It was the only outfit I had with me when I arrived to the hospital.
