So, the more realistic question is deciding when you absolutely should not go to the gym and when you can despite being sick. - Generally, if you have symptoms below the neck such as chest congestion or anything that impacts your breathing, a stomach virus, or a fever, you should rest. Trying to lift weights with limited breathing ability is not a good idea and trying to squat with a stomach bug is, well, a bit risky . Of course, if you are contagious, do everyone a favor and stay home. - On the other hand, if your symptoms are above the neck such as a minor cold, you can work out and could potentially feel better. However, you still might want to just rest and recover. Deep down, we usually know whether we should be going to the gym or not. If you know you shouldn’t go, take some time off. Do you wish to go travelling but aren’t sure how to maintain your physique progress? - There’s no reason why this can’t be achieved, but it’s important to also make the most of travelling without having to spend too much time in the gym and focusing on nutrition. ⏳ - I would recommend a full body workout hitting the major lifts every other day. This ensures that you can keep making progress without spending any more than around 6 hours per week in the gym, leaving you plenty of time to go sightseeing and relax on the beach. - On lifting days, I would recommend a post-workout snack of around 500 calories, along with two big meals of around 1000 calories each, making sure to hit a good amount of protein and fruit/veggies during each meal. (Sure, some of you don’t but this is still good info to have ) . In order to make them bigger, knowing what they are actually made of is super important. Im not talking about the cell structures here, I mean the real basic building blocks. I’ll save the more specific stuff for another post . Water makes up 75% of lean muscle tissue. Makes sense because water is the majority of the rest of our body too. So maybe getting that 3-4 litres in a day isn’t such a bad idea after all . After that we have protein. 18 % is very significant. You’ve got to make sure you’re getting enough in your diet to satisfy the cellular demands . Rounding out the rest, we have fat, vitamins, minerals and some carbs, which all play their part in maintaining healthy muscle tissue. .
