Yesterday I called for an uber, and this is who I got..IBUKUNOLUWA. I was intrigued by her so I spent the ride getting to know her and her back story. Ibukun is 24, very well spoken and a part time undergrad student. Her mother has passed, and she doesn't have much of a relationship with her Dad. She attends Schl 3 days a week, and on the other days she's working as an uber driver.
She bought her car on hire purchase...she hopes to pay it off by Nov after which the car becomes hers. She's had to put up with jeers from her peers, but she's determined not to let that keep her from attaining her goals. A Queen...I stan
I honestly cannot remember the last time I was so deeply inspired..
See ehn at a point in everyone's life "my mama no do for me" "my papa no give me" is a lame excuse. What are you doing for yourself?
Then, don't buy into the lie; there are different methods to living this thing called life...It doesn't have to be fast and furious... Know yourself no be curse...By the time she got me home I doubled the fare and will definitely contribute my widow's mite towards making her life a little easier.
That's how you attract helpers; not by begging, not by scamming, not by selling yourself cheap, but by being found, hands deep in the work of improving your own life. #inspirationthursday

Find out what Kene has been up to in part #5 of Tamara's Son...a Queenbee Aurora authentic series.
To followers of Tamara's Son, pardon me if I don't post as often as you would want, building a brand is not an easy feat. We got to hustle, but trust me, I will try to post as often as possible.

Box jumps in 100 degree heat in the middle of a jungle somewhere in Nigeria while my cousins relaxed inside with the air conditioner. Real talk, I was feeling like a boss until my shin hit the concrete. I didn't think much of it until I looked down and saw all the blood, and the inch wide gash. And the hard white thing that I'm pretty sure was my tibia. "You should probably get stitches," my cousin said calmly while my aunties shrieked in horror/disgust/worry.
From whom? I thought out loud. We're in the middle of the village. There's a man outside the compound gates selling Palm oil and 2017 calendars with a stump where his leg should be. Was that tragedy because he ignored the stitches suggestion or because he got them?
As I write this, the 82 year old (!) village doctor is pouring a yellow liquid over the wound as I bite into the hard plastic of my Invisalign. I pray she doesn't bring out the needle and thread.
Fuck.
Here comes the needle.
Let us all pray. #thevillage #naijastories #nigeria #stitches #canthurtme
