A child of the indigenous "Yamb To" (Long Lake) community at a reindeer camping ground, in the Nenets Autonomous District of #Siberia, Russia. Election day in #Russia is March 18, but voting has already begun in remote regions such as this one, where the #Nenets people of the Siberian #arctic are the guardians of a style of #reindeer herding that is the last of its kind. Through a yearly migration of over a thousand kilometres, these people move gigantic herds of reindeer from summer pastures in the north to winter pastures just south of the Arctic Circle.

Оказывается, у ненцев обычно два имени (впрочем, есть исключения): одно по паспорту, для всех, а второе, которым его или её называют только дома близкие родственники.  Никто из посторонних не должен его знать. Ненцы - народ очень суеверный. Если кто то сглазит ненца, то проведут обряд и получится, что сглазили того, который по паспорту, а не того, кто с настоящим именем. Такая вот система защиты . It appeared that Nenets people usually have two names (though there are exceptions): one as in passport and the other one which is used only at home by close family. Nobody from outside mustn’t know it. Nenets people are very superstitious. If somebody put the evil eye on a Nenets, they perform a ritual. And it turns out that it was that from the passport who suffered, but not that with the true name.
