Dzogchen
Shown but not visible;
Explained but not comprehended.
—Longchenpa
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dzogchen (Great Perfection) goes to the heart of our experience by investigating the relationship between mind and world and uncovering the great secret of mind's luminous nature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Weaving in personal stories and everyday examples, Pema Rigtsal leads the reader to see that all phenomena are the spontaneous display of mind, a magical illusion, and yet there is something shining in the midst of experience that is naturally pure and spacious. Not recognizing this natural great perfection is the root cause of suffering and self-centered clinging.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After introducing us to this liberating view, Pema Rigtsal explains how it is stabilized and sustained in effortless meditation: without modifying anything, whatever thoughts of happiness or sorrow arise simply dissolve by themselves into the spaciousness of pure presence.

RAINBOW BODY
ASCENSION
・・・
ངོ་མཚར་ཆེ། སྐུ་འཇའ་ལུས་སུ་འཕོ་བའི་རྟགས། Recently a Tibetan Dzogchen meditation master attained Rainbow Body. The day before his passing away he told his followers, "Now it's time for me to leave this existence. I appreciate for all your kindness, and forgive me if I have mentioned any harsh words to any of you". The next morning he told one of his disciples to bring his yellow robe (monk's clothe to wear during meditation and ritual). He wore the robe, sat in meditation pose and peacefully passed into parinirvana. His remains (physical body) is getting smaller and smaller day by day!
_
In the past there were many meditation masters who attained Rainbow Body in Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
_
Now what is #RainbowBody :
Rainbow Body (Tib. འཇའ་ལུས་, 'ja' lus) fully accomplished Dzogchen meditation practitioners can dissolve their body at the time of death.
_
Through the practice of trekchö, the practitioner can attain the so-called ‘Rainbow Body’, in which the body becomes smaller and smaller as it dissolves, emanating rainbow light, and finally only the hair and nails are left behind.
_
Through the practice of tögal, the practitioner can dissolve his or her body into the ‘Light Body’ (Tib. འོད་སྐུ་, ö ku), where the body transforms into light and disappears completely into space.

Light of Pure Awareness
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With respect to where the mind has arisen from, where it remains, and where it passes to, when you have reached the conclusion that the nature of the mind simply cannot be seen, that there is nothing you have been able to perceive about it, that there is nothing you can express about it, and that in fact you cannot really even conceive of it, and because of this you have further concluded that the mind must be empty, and you feel certain about this, then you must also examine this conclusion because, obviously, there is still this thing that we call "mind".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To think that it is empty in the way that an empty pot is empty is a faulty conclusion. When you begin to see that the nature of the mind is empty, you will see that this emptiness is an utter openness within which is a luminous, unobstructed clarity. The experience of that clarity is the experience of the primordial wisdom of pure awareness.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Yangthang Rinpoche, “Introduction to the Nature of the Mind”)
The mind has no substantial existence —
The nature of mind is clear light.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mind can be understood as manifesting under two aspects: the delusive mind that is the intellect and the real mind that is its nature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These two aspects are like the wheel of fire and the firebrand, respectively. The fictive mind is primordially insubstantial and without inherent existence. It is limited by conceptual delusions of dualistic perception that appear everywhere and move constantly, never standing still. Leading us all, selfrighteously, this fictive mind believes itself lord of everything, and, as a result, through the concepts of “I” and “mine,” it finds samsara everywhere.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Real mind, the nature of mind, mind in its natural aspect, is primordially free of the discursive elaboration of subject and object, of grasper and the grasped. It does not consist of substance or material things. On the contrary, the essence of the nature of mind is uncompounded and immutable. The primal awareness that is the true nature of mind is profound clarity abiding in the Vase Body of Eternal Youth, the dimension of eternal life in pure being and primal awareness.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Tulku Pema Rigtsal, “The Great Secret of Mind”)
The final aspect of the warrior’s discipline is meditative awareness.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The principle of meditative awareness can be likened to an echo that is always present in the warrior’s world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The echo is experienced first in the sitting practice of meditation. When your thoughts wander in meditation or you become “lost in thought,” the echo of your awareness reminds you to label your thoughts and return to the breath, return to a sense of being.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Similarly, when the warrior starts to lose track of his discipline, by taking time off or indulging in a setting-sun mentality, his awareness is like an echo that bounces back on him.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Chögyam Trungpa, “Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior”)
"Every appearance and every event
Are the mind’s miraculous display.
In the spacious expanse,
I see nothing to fear.
It is just reflexive radiance
Of mind’s clear light, and nothing else.
Hence there’s no reason to react.
All activity is my adornment.
Therefore, better to rest silently in meditative absorption.”

All Things are Figments of the Mind
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Appearances that in reality are not separate from our mental projections are mistaken for an objective and independent outer part, while our experience of what seems to be an independent inner reality is mistaken for an independent apprehending subject; yet neither of these apparent poles goes beyond the limits of the intellectual mind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Tulku Pema Rigtsal, “The Great Secret of Mind”)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Intrinsic Awareness as the Key to non-egoic/hyperspatial Ways of Being
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We need to have a profound trust in the indivisibility of the Absolute, the Unity that encompasses and transcends all diversity. And being a part of this unity, all that occurs even on this plane of existence, however tragic or absurd it may at first seem or appear, is also a function of that unity and is an expression of its unfolding plan.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But to truly appreciate the fact that all that happens is according to the plan, we must first meditate. As we have said from the outset, we must meditate without any object beyond that of recognizing our own mental patterns and intrinsic self-enlightenment. This is the key to entering the condition of the galactic holomind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Valum Votan, “Galactic Meditation: Entering the Synchronic Order”)
DZOGCHEN
Every time a thought arises, seize it firmly.
Release it into its natural state;
Without doubt one will achieve inward liberation!
Watch external appearances with sharpness,
It is an illusion like the mind itself;
Focus the mind on that which appears, without any clinging.
Let the intermediate consciousness uncoil itself,
It flows like the wind devoid of substance.
Let this flow remain free from clinging.
This is described as thoughts arising as meditation,
It is an insight into one’s inner identity
Where there is neither affirmation nor negation.
There exists no other meditation
Apart from remaining so undistracted.
Do not deviate from the nonmeditational state.

WHAT YOU
WISH FOR
_
In the eternal wisdom of the Tao, we leave you with this:
_
For every down, there’s an up. For every up, there’s a down. Just as the sea rises and falls, so too do our life experiences. When you think you’ve hit rock bottom, always remember that’s when you’ve already begun to rise back up. Ride life’s spiraling waves by being centered between the ups and downs. The more you meditate, the more you feel true centeredness, the less the waves of up and down will throw you off. The true master is someone who understands that the bad times make the good times better...and the good times make the bad times badder. –LOTSWA
