After hurricane Maria hit the people of Puerto Rico were left to fend for themselves for over a month while the government played who’s is bigger! Then when the people start demanding solutions a band of criminals came together and decided it was time to ship our people off like cattle with hotel vouchers and false dreams of success and one day being able to return home (a home that will not exist for them!) fast forward 7 months and you have housing vouchers that are expiring, thousands of families facing homelessness in a foreign city where 9 out 10 they’ll be discriminated against in some form! I truly hope #JuliaKeleher has access to the @educacionpr page and that she reads this! This is what white privilege looks like! They cry “reverse racism” when they walk into a situation provoked by white supremacy! Julia Keleher has constantly shown how little she thinks of our people, from the way she speaks down to our people to the fact that in her hands 200 schools have been shut down with hundreds more hanging in the balance and the threat of the privatization of a nations education system. We as Boricua people have never had the right to control our education system even under the @educacionpr, they had to fight to get the History of our native ancestors the Taino history taught! Our people have had had to deal with a system that wasn’t designed to educate but to force assimilate a population! Boricuas have been forced into the Diaspora for 120 years and in those 120 years we have never stopped hearing that “we aren’t from here and shouldn’t have those positions”! Puerto Rican’s have the least amount of representation out of any Latinx group and we’re “US citizens” and why is that? Because for decades the system has told us that “we aren’t from here and we don’t belong”! A white person can walk through any door in any country or any colony, bringing with them their Ivy League Spanish education, their white supremacist attitude and get a job, we can’t! To come in and “insinuate” that our people are being “racist” towards her because she’s not Boricua is bullshit even more so when you walked your ass into our country taking a job that could have went to our own. She closes down our schools is firing our teachers, privatizing our system because “You know what’s best” yet you openly admit that you have no knowledge of our peoples history! Man I’m tired of white people always acting like the victim, our people have been oppressed by the hands of women that look like her for over a century and that violence has yet to stop. Also to insinuate that people don’t like you because you’re “American” is bullshit because regardless to what political party people on the island represent almost everyone has respect for the “American”!
