This maquette helped me figure out how to lay the shadows on the curving stairs in my painting, The Way Between. Бесит, что люди принимают корреляцию за причинно-следственную связь ⠀ Я социолог. Я не знаю чему учат на факультете юриспруденции, лингвистики, экономики, биоинженерии и высшей математики тоже. Но, вероятно, не причинно-следственной связи. ⠀ Если человек, скажем, в 8-ми из 10-ти случаев увидел корги рядом с кудрявым мальчиком, то из этого будет следовать, что все (или как минимум большинство) кудрявые мальчики заводят корги. ⠀ Почему люди на основе частоты встречаемости явления склонны делать вывод о его причине? ⠀ Я не шучу, подобные выводы в действительности очень часто делаются людьми ⠀ Но What ❓Где здесь причинно-следственная связь? Некоторая зависимость переменных (корреляционная) да, наблюдается. Но откуда же такая уверенность в том, что именно статистическая частота встречаемости этих переменных (корги + кудрявый мальчик) является причиной сего явления (заведения кудрявыми мальчиками корги)? ⠀ С точки зрения социологии я могу это объяснить. Да, потому что люди склонны интерпретировать действительность исходя из собственного опыта. Да, потому что так проще. Но стремление к упрощению я уже ничем объяснить не могу ⠀ Разница между причинно-следственной связью и корреляцией - одно из главных знаний, которое я уяснила в универе. Она состоит в том, что корреляция - понятие статистическое, а причинно-следственная связь - физическое. Т.е. в причинно-следственной связи обязательно кроется причина, а в корреляционной её может и не быть☝ _⠀ Пример из жизни - см. ⠀ Как Вам такой формат? Amazing day at the Australian Body Art Festival in Cooroy and my first Airbrush Competition. Stoked to have walked out with “People’s Choice Award” & “Second Place”.
