What are your travel plans for this year? .
I swore that this will be the year when I’ll travel to more destinations within the UK. There’s this strange paradox - we often daydream about going to a vacation somewhere far away, when a lot of hidden gems and beautiful historical places can be found within the country we live in. Going along with my inborn travel bug that’s exactly what I decided to do last weekend. I was already planning a trip to Oxford, when @omio , a travel app which allows you to book and store your train, bus and flight tickets to anywhere in Europe, offered to send me to Oxford with the use of their platform .
We took a train from Paddington station (oh man these mobile train tickets saved us so much time - the joys of standing in line on a busy station anyone?), and within just one short hour we found ourselves roaming the streets of Oxford. We decided to start the day a bit further away from the main touristy center in a cozy coffee shop @brewoxford with the most wonderful quiet atmosphere and calming Jazz music played on vinyls. Afterwards we decided to explore some rooftops whilst it was still early in the morning. I am a big fan of rooftops, as they give such a unique perspective of the city. We decided to go up to St Mary’s Church Tower. It was very quiet even on a Saturday, which was a nice change of pace from busy Oxford streets. .
We went to Gloucester Green market for lunch, which opens on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and offers amazing street food, antique goods and books.
We then ended our trip with a boat ride on the canal. Surprisingly, what seems like a more touristy experience, this was actually recommended to me by a local. The boat rental point is slightly away from the central part of Oxford, and even on a Saturday you can enjoy a very tranquil ride either on a rowing boat or a paddle boat. We went for a rowing boat, which was a challenge (well, to the one who was rowing, because I just leisurely enjoyed the views). .
.
If you are looking for an easy way to book your paperless tickets, I definitely would recommend to check @omio out! Link in bio! ✨.
Share with me where are you going on your next trip! .
