I have watched planes fly over, land and take off from my window as a little girl. My dad would bring me to work and walk the cabin of an airplane. He was a mechanic so I was a frequent visitor in an airport hanger. Most nights, I would sit on a window ledge and watch the bright light in the sky and think,” wow how cool.” 20 years later and I was interviewing to be a flight attendant for the largest Airline in the USA. Training was not easy being that English was my second language but anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Today marks 2 years as I have been a flight attendant ✈️ ( haha no stew emoji ) The places, the people, the countries, the natural disasters I have been in contact with is infinite. This is the Dream Job! Thank you goes to the best instructors and mentors a girl can ask for Happy anniversary, class 16-15 ✈️✈️ and to many more years of flying to come oh and a happy pay raise

Most people can improve their cash flow right now with minimal effort simply by spending less. If you can't (or won't) decrease your spending, then you have to find ways to increase your earning. One way of achieving this is by asking for a raise. If you have a great argument for a pay increase (e.g paid below market rate, significantly greater level of responsibility, in-demand unique skill set etc), now is the time to have that conversation you’ve been putting off forever; "ASK FOR A PAY RAISE".
.
.
Talking about money can be difficult, even scary. It’s a topic that makes a lot of people feel uncomfortable. You’re afraid of getting turned down, making things awkward, or even offending your Manager. So, you make excuses as a way to sidestep the conversation. You tone down your requests - or worse, you don’t ask at all. Asking for a raise isn’t about having a confrontation; rather, it’s about creating an opportunity to seek what you deserve. .
.
If your request for a raise is denied and no reason is given, take the opportunity to ask open-ended questions about your performance and the reasons for the rejection. Inquire about when you can have a follow-up conversation. Rejection of any kind is difficult to swallow, but for a potential raise down the line, you’re going to have to keep working your money-talk muscle and building up your confidence. The conversation is far from over!

My husband gave me some good news last night. He said his commission percentage is going up 1% which will result in a $15K raise for this year!
To celebrate he stopped by the store on his way home and bought a pink champagne cake. It was delicious and I didn’t mind him spending money on it because what’s $4.99 in the grand scheme of a $15K raise?
Now to figure out what to do with the extra money. Up his 401K contribution? Pay down the mortgage faster? Save it all for our daughter’s education? We shall see.
Y’all. It’s time to celebrate!
My husband started his job at the beginning of August, so he had his 6-month review meeting yesterday. His supervisors praised his professionalism, dependability, and leadership qualities, and in the end said they would propose a raise to HR. This is an incredible blessing because this job was a bit of a pay cut, so this will give us more wiggle room with our budget and it could not have come at a more perfect time! I am so so proud of my husband for working so hard to stand out in his job and I just want to shout from the rooftops about how good God has been to us!
Yesterday, I had my annual review and received a 3.1% raise. I wish it had been a little more, but I can’t really complain because last year our raises were awful. I feel like 3.1% still seems low but maybe it is average? What do you think is an average raise? What do you think is a good raise? I would love to hear your thoughts!

For our entire journey out of debt, I often repeated the words I heard from @daveramsey, “Debt is dumb”. And you know what? I felt dumb. I felt shame. How could we have been so dumb to let ourselves get so deep into debt? It felt suffocating.
-
Then we got out of debt.
-
That was fun and exciting for a few weeks, yet I still wrestled with the same suffocating feelings of inadequacy for not having an emergency fund yet, or not having invested in our retirement earlier, or not having college savings for our kids. All because we had been so dumb and gotten into debt.
-
Then one day I learned a universal truth that circumstances are neutral, neither good nor bad. It was the thoughts I allowed myself to believe about the circumstance that created the feelings that influenced all of my decisions. That truth changed everything for me.
-
Debt is a circumstance. Debt is just numbers, and those numbers are neutral. We give those numbers meaning by what we choose to think about them.
-
Choosing the thought, “Debt is dumb” created so much guilt, shame, & feelings of failure. I never realized that it was optional for me to think something completely different. I didn’t HAVE to think it was dumb and I was dumb for getting into debt. That was optional.
-
If thinking it is dumb creates feelings that inspire, motivate, and empower you, then by all means continue thinking that. But, if not, please know that you can choose however you want to think about those debt numbers. I would encourage you to choose intentionally thoughts that create feelings of empowerment.
-
You’ll be far more likely to succeed at getting out of debt when you feel empowered rather than defeated.
