A wonderful @theglenlivet , launched for travel retail. This was launched in honour of Alan Winchester, who has been Master Distiller at the distillery since 2009. He created this whisky with European oak butts and first-fill American barrels as well as refill hoggies. Lovely stuff.

TALISKER SKYE Scotland - Islands . On the nose: smoky and very peaty, the peat is rubbery and slightly earthy, vanilla, slightly spicy, afterwards there’s a lil oakiness and a hint of honey On the palate: salty and a bit lickerish, the peat is still very dominant and rubbery, bitter chocolate and some sea spray. Finally, there is a slight touch of orange The finish is medium, deep, mentholated, bitter/tannic, marine and (no surprise) peaty Personal note: 82/100 Not very complex, not much behind the peat, except for a quite interesting finish. Here the line-up of our Whisky tasting in June! 4 Scotch single malt and one blended whisky as a bonus! (@finricwhisky thank you guys!) That was quite a lineup :) we obviously started with that beautiful Balvenie 14 Caribbean cask! Always a gentle beauty, where vanilla, honey and barley combine together in perfect armory, complimented by that Demerara sugar and spice delivered by the finish in Rum cask! Afterwards an omnipresent malt in our tastings: Hazelburn! A stunning 13 yo aged in Oloroso sherry cask! I had great expectations over this baby and I was definitely not disappointed! STUNNING. Afterwards we touched an interesting topic: peat vs peat We tasted side by side the latest entry in the Ardbeg core range, the “an oa” and the MONSTER Kilkerran heavily peated. Was fantastic to explain how Islay peat is integrated differently if compared with other peated malts!
