A screen cap of my dad’s message to me. ☺️☺️☺️ ... I picked up the girls from school this afternoon... we had just gotten into an Uber on our way to the park in Turnpike Lane. I pulled out my phone to message Chrisantha that we would be home around 5.... when I got the email........... Ladies and Gentlemen...... thanks to all of you who sent me your beautiful messages of faith. I GOT MY PERMANENT RESIDENCY!!!!!!! I cried in the Uber. Agi and Frida gave me millions of hugs. We laughed, we cried. It was a magnificent moment—10 years in the making and I got to share it with these beloved girls. We did it, guys. The girls and I went to the park for a bit, then went home and watched some Paw Patrol. And then Frida put on her Bollywood outfit and we all went out for a wonderful celebratory dinner at Banners in Crouch End (thanks Chrisantha), followed by seeing the brilliant Cherise Silvestri in a play she both wrote and stared in at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden. I’m now heading home on the tube to see my beautiful Alexander who got my joyfully teary phonecall this afternoon. I love this guy more than life. WE GOT IT! We got the visa! After 3.5 years together and almost 2.5 years long distance, 24 international flights, countless Skype calls and many months of waiting since submitting the application, we finally have the Australian Partner Visa for Robin! So he will soon be leaving his home country, the Netherlands to come live & work in the land of gum trees and koalas and we couldn’t be happier.
