Out of all the 8 films Paul Thomas Anderson has blessed us with, the one film that is my absolute favorite of his is The Master. His entire body of work is not only beautiful, but also mesmerizing and breathtaking, leaving a profound effect on cinema. Knowing that The Master is Paul Thomas Anderson’s favorite film makes me cherish this film so much more.
#PhilipSeymourHoffman stated during the deathbed scene in #Magnolia, everything after Frank's "I'm not going to cry for you" was improvised by #TomCruise. Cruise didn't feel the scripted lines worked and #PaulThomasAnderson told Cruise to think of when his own father died and to let it move him. During the next take Cruise broke down sobbing, resulting in the scene seen in the film. Hoffman stated Phil's reaction to Frank sobbing was his own, since he didn't know Cruise would enter such a zone and he felt the purity of Cruise's emotion.

Anyone else out there just going around happily living their day to day, and then remembering that Philip Seymour Hoffman is dead and everything is ruined?
I've been rewatching Paul Thomas Anderson's back catalogue lately. And Hoffman just crushes it every time. One of the best actors of his generation and it's a total shame we don't get to see him do more.
