Happy #musicmonday! Taking a little break from producing my normal videos so I thought I’d share another one of my popular TikTok videos. This was my first “viral” video on the platform which now has over 190k views and 14k likes (Woohoo!). I think the most surprising was when a random con-goer purposed to me as Gritty in the middle of the tabletop area in front of everyone. I thought, what would Gritty do? So, I said yes!! There were a lot of random requests. Someone asked if I would eat their corn, another requested a family photo by the Christmas tree for their Christmas cards, and I was pushed around on a gaming chair in a tiny parade down aisle 1700 of the expo hall. . Being a plus sized female cosplayer can be very difficult. Most female characters portrayed in the gaming industry are physically fit and often times scantily clad. Sadly, there is an occasional fat shaming that takes place at conventions which can make cosplayers very hesitant to do what they love. . So, I started cosplaying to show people that no matter your size, race, or gender you can be whatever you want to be. I will admit, before stepping onto the convention floor there is always a brief moment of anxiety for me, but Gritty gave me enough confidence to believe in myself and be comfortable with my size. Thanks, Gritty!! . For the body, I purchased orange shag rug fabric from Fashion Fabrics in California for the legs, arms, hands, and part of the face. I borrowed the Flyers jersey from a friend since they are quite expensive. The Gritty head was created with a 2 inch thick multipurpose EVA foam floor mat. I used a gorilla monkey shaggy fur fabric from BigZFabric in California. The eyes and felt for the mouth came from JoAnn Fabric. Everything was hand sewn from top to bottom. .
