Y’all let’s talk real quick. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy that My Hero Academia has grown as a fandom and that people appreciate the show and characters. I’m glad I get to cosplay from it with so many other talented cosplayers and enjoy cons, meet ups, and panels. However, this fandom is getting out of control. Above is my no longer wearable Bakugou Katsuki Hero Outfit that was destroyed by groups of kids ganging up on me at con. Unsupervised kids got physical with me in my costume in ways that are very unacceptable. I’m not sure where the “cosplay isn’t consent” posters were this year but I urge cons to put them back up. I was pushed and slammed into walls, pulled by my costume, grabbed at and had people screaming in my face because I was dressed up as Bakugou. I know kids get really excited about seeing cosplays of their favorite character and a lot of them lack impulse control at young ages which is why I don’t get directly angry with them. However, parents please pay attention to your children when they attend panels because I dread walking off stage to a crowd of kids again. I will be remaking my costume but it was definitely a bummer to have to change photo shoots due to losing a costume.
