Moroccon Harira soup
Ingredients
4 tbsp of olive oil
1⁄2 cup of finely minced onions
Two stalks of celery, diced
4 large tomatoes, diced
3 cloves of garlic
2 tbsp of tomato paste
1 can brown lentils
1 can chickpeas
Method:
In a large Pot, heat 4 tablespoon olive oil in mild flame. Add the minced onions and cook until translucent. Add the diced celery stalks and continue to saute. Next, add 4-diced tomatoes to the oven and cook down for 1-2 minutes before adding the minced garlic and 2-table spoons of tomato paste. Stir to combine, and then add the cups of cooked brown lentils and chickpeas. For flavor, you may also add 1 tsp of each of the following ground spices cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, cinnamon, black pepper, salt and red pepper flakes.Add a little chopped fresh corriander, mint, and parsley, too. This intensifies the aroma and flavor.
Pour in 1 liter of lamb or beef stock and bring the entire mixture to a nice boil.
Reduce the heat to medium- low and cover. Allow for the dish to cook for about 20 minutes. Finally add chopped fresh spinach and gently stir to combine. Raise the heat slightly and let to cook for 10-12 minutes. When finished, remove from heat and serve with a lemon or lime wedge. ***Please note you could also add in 300g of cubed beef or lamb after sautéing the celery and onions.

Trauma can have profound effects on the body. When trauma goes untreated, or is suppressed (sometimes due to necessity), it can lead to an internalization of symptomology.⠀

These symptoms may not immediately look like trauma symptoms. There is a chance survivors will be misdiagnosed when they present with a variety of health-related concerns, especially years after a trauma, and in part, this is due to misinformation about how trauma manifests in the body.⠀
⠀
Trauma is stored in the body, and in fact, even when the mind is able to ignore or silence the trauma, the body is still very aware of what it experienced; the body keeps track of the harm and pain that the mind may actively be trying to forget or move past.⠀
⠀
Untreated trauma may manifest as: headaches, chronic fatigue/low energy, immune system and endocrine problems, thyroid dysfunction, psychosomatic illness, asthma, neck and back pain, IBS, severe PMS, disordered eating, excessive shyness, diminished emotional responses, depression, or feelings of impending doom. These symptoms are associated with a number of health concerns and diagnoses, so unless a medical provider or therapist is inquiring about a trauma history, trauma-related medical conceptualizations are often missed, thus not providing clients with the best care.⠀

If you have experienced prolonged exposure to trauma, these symptoms may be the most evident, and you may struggle to see how these symptoms are explicitly related to your trauma. In an effort to survive, your body is sending you a lot of cues that there is trapped trauma that needs to be processed, and you are worthy of living free of daily trauma symptoms.⠀
